I want to give a huge thank you and shout out to all of the Business Matters! committee members as we say farewell to this standardized Pro*Development Wednesday programming feature and move to a more "on-demand" delivery structure. This committed, talented and well connected team have given of their time, expertise, and experience to plan and deliver outstanding bi-monthly and monthly business-focused education opportunities for five years. Most of you have no idea of how much time and effort has gone into delivering this member service.
Just as you must do with your business, the Chamber must evaluate on a regular basis how our resources are best used and what is in demand by our clients (aka members). And..........by resources in this context, I am talking about our volunteer manpower! Please take the opportunities to thank the following amazing members that have provided the leadership, passion, time and energy to Business Matters! for a large portion of its existence.

The Chamber has partnered with the City of Beaverton to offer an outstanding CERTIFICATION opportunity. Conflict management and resolution is key to successful business management today. This series of three workshops is open to all members that want a better understanding of managing the Gen Xers and Yers and learn tools for ALL conflict management and resolution techniques.

The Chamber and Small Business Development Center Partner in 2013
Your chamber continues to create strong service partnerships on behalf of the small business community in Beaverton. The chamber is privileged to partner with the Small Business Development Center- Portland Community College (SBDC-PCC), a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. TheChamber hosts SBDC advisor, Jon-Michael Kowertz every first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and third Wednesday immediately following Business Matters from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for free and confidential, one-on-one business advising.
As additional resource for small businesses in Beaverton, owners and entrepreneurs can schedule an appointment for SBDC advising and conveniently meet at the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce. Candidates for advising may need help in business start-up, marketing, planning, financing, loan package development and more. Business advising is at no charge and does not require chamber membership. Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.

We will have two guests: The City will present on the Public Safety Center needs and we have invited the Beaverton School District to discuss their local option levy.
We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.
All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.
