Greetings!
I need a new name badge (and title!) "Connector-In-Training".
Tuesday I had a meeting at The Edge Coffee Shop on Millikan & Murray. Here was my Facebook post on my personal page which was then shared to the Chamber's page.
I am getting better and better about remembering (habit!) to share where I am and what members I am visiting and sharing that message through Social Media channels. Is that of value? I have over 500 "friends" on Facebook and the Chamber's page has over 720+ "fans".
This is one more way each of us can help promote shopping local and our fellow Chamber members. Get that smart phone out and use it to grow our local economy. Let's get sharing! Let's Chamberize together and watch our Beaverton merchants thrive!
Finish your week strong & productively!
Sincerely, Lorraine Clarno, President/CEO, ACE Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce 503.350.2006

Strengthening the Local Economy...
The Chamber and Small Business Development Center Partner in 2013
Your chamber continues to create strong service partnerships on behalf of the small business community in Beaverton. The chamber is privileged to partner with the Small Business Development Center- Portland Community College (SBDC-PCC), a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. TheChamber hosts SBDC advisor, Jon-Michael Kowertz every first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and third Wednesday immediately following Business Matters from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for free and confidential, one-on-one business advising.
As additional resource for small businesses in Beaverton, owners and entrepreneurs can schedule an appointment for SBDC advising and conveniently meet at the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce. Candidates for advising may need help in business start-up, marketing, planning, financing, loan package development and more. Business advising is at no charge and does not require chamber membership. To learn more about how the SBDC can help your business or to arrange an appointment contact the chamber at 503-350-2007 or email Jessica.

Representing Business to Government...
Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.
2013 Legislative Priorities & Agenda ....RELEASED
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, March 7th, 2013
We'll highlight the Chamber Day at the Capitol event and update you on all the bills that are moving forward and potentially impact the business climate.
We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.
All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.

Join the Beaverton Better Buildings Challenge!
Buildings throughout our country waste energy because they are not efficient. This greatly contributes to the amount of fuel we purchase and to America's energy independence. Taking simple steps can reduce energy use, and the money saved can be spent on growing local businesses, investing in new technologies, and creating jobs in our community. The City of Beaverton, in collaboration with PGE, Energy Trust, and NW Natural invite you to join the Better Buildings Challenge and receive a free energy consultation and more.
