Greetings!
I heard recently that in today's "experience economy" and with the GenXers & GenYer's taking the majority seat in the workforce that we need to be sharing "Where we are going" - not where we are or where we've been.
For 2013 we have at least three (hint hint) new things on deck:
Young Entrepreneurs Academy is here! Absolutely Mission-centric and we are creating entrepreneurs that are the next generation of job creators for Beaverton. Evelyn is happy to share more and you will be seeing more each week about this fantastic program. It will take upwards of 70 businesses involved to make this happen. She's happy to share the multitude of ways you can direct-connect and be a part of this venture.
Beaverton Business Bootcamp is here! While the name may not stick, we are committed to developing a hands on, direct connect with folks that have considered developing, expanding or growing in Beaverton. We will bring together City staff and EXPERIENCED leaders that can share the way it REALLY works! Saving time and money and opening the channels - Making the direct connections necessary.
Rooftop _______________ is here! What?? Oh yes - that's all we are saying for now but we guarantee this is something that HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. Details are forthcoming but this fantastic event will take place this summer.
Finish your week strong & productively!
Sincerely, Lorraine Clarno, President/CEO, ACE Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce 503.350.2006
We are excited to introduce a brand new partnership with American Family and the Wendi Eiland Agency, Inc. for 2013 to help you grow your business.
"Accelerate Your Success" - tools to grow your small business. This free program supplies you with coaching, webinars, and networking forums to drive your business to the next level.
You can access this amazing program off any of our www.beaverton.org landing pages (Bold, Business, Beaverton, Events, About).
Utilizing technology and bringing more business education training will be a key addition to our offerings this next year. Check it out - 24-7, in your jammies, or with a nice glass of red wine while decompressing from your day. |
Strengthening the Local Economy...
The Chamber and Small Business Development Center Partner in 2013
Your chamber continues to create strong service partnerships on behalf of the small business community in Beaverton. The chamber is privileged to partner with the Small Business Development Center- Portland Community College (SBDC-PCC), a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. TheChamber hosts SBDC advisor, Jon-Michael Kowertz every first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and third Wednesday immediately following Business Matters from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for free and confidential, one-on-one business advising.
As additional resource for small businesses in Beaverton, owners and entrepreneurs can schedule an appointment for SBDC advising and conveniently meet at the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce. Candidates for advising may need help in business start-up, marketing, planning, financing, loan package development and more. Business advising is at no charge and does not require chamber membership. To learn more about how the SBDC can help your business or to arrange an appointment contact the chamber at 503-350-2007 or email Jessica.

Representing Business to Government...
Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.
2013 Legislative Priorities & Agenda ....RELEASED
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, March 7th, 2013
We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.
All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.

Membership Corner
Are we talking about you? Are you talking about your business?
Our social media efforts are all about our members - not the Chamber.
Each week up to 5 video testimonials are recorded and posted on our Youtube Channel, Facebook page, Pinterest Boards and Twitter............Are your ears burning? At Friday Coffee Connections we are consistently recording and posting all of these great members promoting and recognizing one another.
If you can't make it to a Coffee Connection to get on camera - or you are uncomfortable with that - please post your recommendation on our Facebook page.
Please take advantage of sharing your business news on our Facebook page as well. Key word - NEWS. Please don't populate it with blantant advertising, but use it to share you tips and expertise, employee changes, new product or service launches. That is what it is there for.
