I'm Toni Carmean, offering counseling in Beaverton, Oregon. I have a decade of experience helping people cope with difficult experiences. My clients include people experiencing sadness over the loss of a loved one, survivors of abuse who may also be suffering from ambivalent loss due to the death of an abuser. I specialize primarily in thanatology - the study of death, dying and bereavement. I help people as they go through the process of grief and loss. I also work with people diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Greetings!

Happy New Year and welcome to 2013!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and took advantage of the chance to slow down at least just a bit to recharge those batteries and get ready for a year of new opportunity!

We are expecting this first week to be a bit quiet as many will not be back in the saddle until the 7th. This is a great three-day opportunity to clean up loose ends and be ready to charge next week. Hope to see many of you at Tri-D Fitness on Friday for the first Coffee Connection of the year. If you have a business associate that should be a member, bring them this Friday. We will be raffling off a membership for one lucky guest to start the year off.

Have you met Betsey and Billy Beaverton yet? If not, you aren't following the Beaverton Chamber on Pinterest. We are putting together a shop local/community building/marketing campaign for 2013 that will kick off shortly. Stay tuned!

Your Chamber is once again hosting the reception at the 2013 State of the City Address with Mayor Doyle. We hope you can join us from 5:30 -7:30pm on January 23rd at the Arts & Communication Magnet Academy Performing Arts Center. Please RSVP here if you can join us.

As you are looking at your calendar - make the note: Business After Hours for 2013 has been moved to be consistent with the 2nd Tuesday's of each month. Primetime Networking will kick off this year at the wonderful Stockpot!

Finish your week strong & productively!

Utilizing technology and bringing more business education training will be a key addition to our offerings this next year. Check it out - 24-7, in your jammies, or with a nice glass of red wine while decompressing from your day.

Strengthening the Local Economy...

The Chamber urges the Beaverton City Council to move foward with the space planning decisions for City Hall and Police immediately in the new year. We strongly encourage general adminstrative city services to relocate to the South Office Building and look forward to advocating for a new public safety center in 2013.

Representing Business to Government...

Our Business Advocacy Council focuses on issues that directly impact businesses that most owners/managers do not have time to stay on top of but count on the Chamber to do so and be their voice.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, February 7th, 2013

TOPIC - TBA

We meet monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30am - 8:30am in our down stairs conference room. Feel free to contact Lorraine if you have any questions. We'd love to have you.

All Business Advocacy Council Meetings are open to all members (appointed or not!). If you "get" the connection between monitoring regulations, ensuring business has input at the table on issues such as transportation, taxation and more...you should come and participate. All ideas and opinions are welcome.

Cooin toss graphic

Is there ever anything such as "too much of a good thing"?

Yes indeed there can be. We have a group of amazing supporters that champion the Beaverton Chamber and membership all day - every day, and every where they do business. We are so very grateful for their constant efforts.

Sometimes this results in a wee bit of a challenge when awarding the referral fee (especially when we have to choose one member over another to reap the reward). We do not want to put the new member in any uncomfortable situation when they are asked to put a sponsor down and they share with us that more than one fabulous member recruited them. So............Introducing the Coin Toss! As needed, at a Friday Coffee Connection, we'll be hosting a referral coin toss where everyone can see and celebrate our awesome recruiters.

Every member is eligible to earn 3 vouchers in a calendar year towards your next Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Renewal - that is $75! Keep them coming - as the Chamber grows - our members grow too!

Join the Beaverton Better Buildings Challenge!

Buildings throughout our country waste energy because they are not efficient. This greatly contributes to the amount of fuel we purchase and to America's energy independence. Taking simple steps can reduce energy use, and the money saved can be spent on growing local businesses, investing in new technologies, and creating jobs in our community. The City of Beaverton, in collaboration with PGE, Energy Trust, and NW Natural invite you to join the Better Buildings Challenge and receive a free energy consultation and more.
