Leandra's Corner
Hello from the desert. It is getting hotter here although now the temperature is only in the low 100's. This past month we moved from our old apartment to a different one. At first it was hard for me, but I am getting use to it. I do not like change very much & in our life things change almost every day but God gives me strength. Also we will be coming back to the US for about 8 weeks. I am excited to see my grandparents but I do not want to leave here. It is always a lot of mixed emotions. Please keep me in prayers with all these changes.

What's up? Things with me are going great. I will soon get my practice drums & start taking my lessons. Daddy says the neighbors will not be so happy but I am not sure what he means. In a few days we have to get our visas renewed. It is always a lot of standing in lines & very boring. Please pray about it that it will be faster. I think it is cool that we will be coming to the US for a little while but I agree with Leandra that I will miss our friends here a lot. I just do not understand why someone has not invented a faster way to get to America & back to the Middle East... have they not seen Star Wars?

Greetings from the Middle East. The past month has been so busy we are not sure we can fit everything in the newsletter. From renewing our residence visa, moving to a new apartment, and initiating plans for a new church plant in Dubai, there is so much to share. God is at work & so many awesome things are happening.

A Taste of Tennessee
It Is Never Too Late
A few months ago, I got a message from Pastor Kelly Goins of Watts Bar COG in Decatur, TN that he would be visiting the UAE to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Started by Kelly's  parents (Ken & Connie), this church has supported our ministry since 1995. Although I was not sure they would want to do ministry while on their vacation, they both jumped at the opportunity to share in one of our churches. It was a great night of worship, preaching & even a time of encouragement for our workers in the church.

Their visit was also a great opportunity for us to get to know them more personally. Although we are distant cousins, we never grew up around each other & have never had the chance to spend any real time together. We were truly blessed by every moment God gave us with them. We also thank God for giving us an opportunity to cultivate a relationship with family: both earthly and in Christ.
Israel Surprise
God is Working Even When You Do Not See Him
In April, I also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the renovated COG guest house on the Mt. of Olives that will now be used as a ministry training center. Dr. Tim Hill & Dr. John Childers were in attendance along with several other visitors from COGWM. During the time, a door opened for our family to attend this year's COG General Assembly in Nashville. Previously, we had not planned on going due to the cost of airfare from the UAE to the US, but God made a way where we will be able to attend & not take the funds from our COGWM account. It was an unexpected surprise, so now we will be in the US from June 28-August 20.

Also during my time in Israel, I met with one of my former students who has an incredible ministry to Arab people throughout the world. I cannot say too much, but I was overwhelmed at what God is doing in places & among people who appear to have little evangelistic activity. Since my visit, we have already been able to connect through my student's ministry to people in our own neighborhood. Doors are opening & God is moving even when you cannot see Him at work.
Leadership Seminar
Small Churches Impact Big World
My work in the seminary here helps connect me with various ministries & churches throughout the country & region. One such church in Dubai frequently invites us to conduct seminars to assist them in equipping their leaders & members to fulfill their purpose in the Kingdom of God. This past month we were blessed to hold an all day leadership seminar with about 30 people from the church. While this is a small group, they are impacting their neighborhoods & places of employment for God. Too many times, people only think big churches can make a real difference, but this church stands as an undeniable testimony that a small church seeking to join with God in His work in this world can make an incredible difference.

Big Step Into A Small Pool
Seven More Baptized
Baptism is an important sacrament in the lives of Christians. In the Middle East, it is one of the biggest steps that a person makes because of its public proclamation of their faith in Jesus Christ. This is when many face obstacles that most Christians in the West only read about. Over the past 3 weeks, we have baptized 7 more people. God is reaping a harvest throughout the world & we are so grateful He allows us to participate in His mission to the world.
As always, our family cannot possibly thank you enough for your prayers & support of the task God has given us to undertake. Without you & those like you, the work in the Middle East would be almost impossible. The Great Commission is not a task for professional cross-cultural ministers, but require the entire body of Christ working together with God to fulfill His desire to bring salvation & redemption to the people in the world who have yet to hear the Good News.
