NH Visitor Center News
News from our Official NHGSA Member Centers
Greetings!

We recently added another new member to our NHGSA team. Join me in welcoming Eileen Herring as our new Education and Tours Manager. Many of your Center Manager's had an opportunity to meet Eileen at our recent Center Manager's Meeting. We are very excited to have her! You can reach her at tourprograms@nhgsa.com.

Eileen moved to New Hampshire in 2003.  Since that time, she has been an active volunteer with Home Health and Hospice Care and Merrimack Friends and Families.  Since 2010 Eileen worked in the homeschool environment preparing her as NHGSAs Education and Tours Manager.

Have you picked up your copy of the The New Hampshire Herald yet? NH Granite State Ambassadors was named one of the Top 20 Companies in New Hampshire. Congratulations to you, the over 1,200 trained GSAs who have made this possible!

October has just been very busy in Manchester. The Welcome Center has weathered a Chili Fest and a President's visit all in one month. A busy park and the center of media focus for a whole day during the President's visit. The Secret Service appreciated using MWC and although we missed being open, we certainly understood why we couldn't.

The open hours have been fantastic...thank you to everyone for the extended hours. What a difference it has made! We had over 700 guests in September. Unlike some of the centers that get a little quieter the next months, MWC gets busier. Shoppers, conferences, and sports teams keep our downtown hopping! Keep up the great work of keeping the Center open.

We are currently working with the City to improve the flood lighting around the Center, repair the trash cans and fencing, and many of the long range plans for the park will be under discussion for the months
ahead.

Please join us November 9th at 10:00 AM at the Manchester Chamber of Commerce for a workshop entitled "Downtown's Non-Visitor Visitors". This is one of a series of three workshops for GSAs and anyone interested. Several speakers will share information and a discussion will follow.

The Granite State Candy Shoppe has opened on Elm Street. This new addition to Manchester's downtown makes things even sweeter!

The Chamber was so pleased to purchase a new Keurig Coffee maker for the GSA's at the Center.  We hope you enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on those early or chilly days!  Reminder:  the coffee is just for GSA's not the public...Judi will not add to the GSA training...diner service!!!!

Thanks for all you do!  Charlene

Sandy made a grand attempt to stir up some trouble but we persevered and everything is back on track. As in the past, many GSA's re-posted travel and weather related posts on Facebook and Twitter by tagging our accounts. Thank you for these efforts. It really does make a difference to many!

The Secure-side Walk-About Program has been going strong. We are pleased with the results this far, as are the traveling public. On November 13th, 22 GSAs will again participate in our twice annual Airport Tour. This is a unique, behind the scenes look at the operations of MHT guided by Tom Malafronte, Assistant Director, Air Service Development and Marketing.

We recently participated in MHT's 3rd annual Customer Appreciation Day. It is one of my favorite times at the airport. You can see all the fun on our Storify board and online Picasa photo album by visiting the links below.

Littleton, Lebanon and Colebrook Welcome Centers have closed for the winter. We plan to do some low cost updates to these centers during the winter.

We are striving for consistency in all of the centers so we are in the process of regionalizing the brochures in all centers. We have also been working on streamlining the brochure program approval process. We are currently working on deploying computers in Sanbornton and Springfield.

We had a great foliage season throughout the state. This photo was taken at the Colebrook Welcome and Information Center.

Greetings from the Capital Region Visitor Center!

Our Seasonal Downtown Kiosk is officially closed.  Thank you to all the wonderful GSA's who volunteered their time during the 2012 season.....we couldn't have done it without you!!

The holiday season is fast approaching and it is a great time to visit Concord for some holiday traditions:

11/17   61st Annual Concord Christmas Parade - 9:30 am

11/23   Annual Christmas Tree Lighting (State House Plaza) - 5:00 pm

12/7     Midnight Merriment in downtown Concord - 5:30 pm

There are several shifts available at CRVC.  Please consider picking up a shift or two.

I wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving!

With our close proximity to Tanger Outlets, our Tilton Visitor's Center is the place to be during the holiday season! In our center, we now have a good supply of NH Made products to sell as well as Post Cards. Maple products and post cards are the best sellers!

We love our GSAs! They are always trying to promote things to do in our region and in NH. We often have confused people come in looking for the bank as it's behind us but instead of just sending them to the bank our GSA's engage them in conversations about what's going on in NH!

During downtime at our center there are always things to do if you chose like helping with "odd jobs" like putting address labels and postage on post cards for our annual meeting, adding events to our calendar and restocking our brochure racks.

Amy, Kim and I look forward to seeing you soon!
