Greetings!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
 | | I love the nail file. |
Well, my little "thumb" came in second in the school's Halloween party costume contest. She was so excited! Thank you Jim S from WMNF for being one of our judges.
After saying hello to everyone at the party, she of course, headed for the snack table and picked out the cutest little spider cupcake. Then it hit her -- in her determination to make sure that the mesh covering her face was thick enough that no-one could see in -- she'd sealed in her mouth. Poor girl and there wasn't a scissor in sight. Luckily a friend came up with idea to use her keys to cut a small hole in the mesh. The cupcake was still not the best idea to try to fit through, even in tiny pieces, but it did open up the field to cookies!

GSA Recommendations When Visiting NH Blog
By Judi Window I spent 15 of my formative years in Bedford NH. It was a wonderful place to grow up, especially because I had 5 brothers and a sister. The 7 of us loved running, jumping, and exploring woods behind our house where our parents still live. Over the course of years, the old logging road became a path to Muller's Park and a location where Boy Scouts could learn survival skills and work on their various badges. The good thing was, we were all getting older and clearing the trails each year became less and less appealing to us old fogies! BUT we still liked to hike and we still like to reminisce with our children and grandchildren. So having the Boy Scouts blaze the trails was perfect! Read more about Judi's favorite hike... By: Kate Bashline, GSA Great Bay Class 2001 If you are looking for lodging between Squam Lake and Franconia Notch to hike, ski, explore scenic drives and area attractions, bike, visit a school or college, antique , shop or simply rest & recharge in the NH White Mountains, the Mountain Fare Inn, in the Waterville Valley area, is a perfect spot. An inn since 1830, the New England charm, restful comfort and pastoral pace here will rejuvenate you. The gorgeous grounds invite outdoor activity. There's a soccer / football field. Great conversations await you. Read more about Kate & Gary's experience at the inn....

Pumpkin Wars -- Keene NH
HGTV Episode HPUWA-S12H
Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott travel to Highwood, IL and Keene, NH to take in two small-town pumpkin festivals. There the brothers will go head-to-head as they help the cities battle to see who can carve and display the most lit jack-o-lanterns and set a new Guinness World Record in the process.
Judi's grandson Dylan was interviewed but ended up on the cutting room floor. I believe he did get a couple shots of himself in the background though.

Keene wins Pumpkin Wars
New Hampshire city won by more than 7,000 jack-o-lanterns
 | | image: WMUR |
Keene has won the Pumpkin Wars. The city beat Highwood, Ill. in a special competition for HGTV. Keene carved and lighted 29,381 jack-o'-lanterns, compared to 22,333 in Highwood. Highwood had a good attitude about the loss, with city leaders say they'd like to become sister cities with Keene. They say their residents bond over their shared love of pumpkins. The win brings an extra boost to Keene schools. Discover offered donations to local schools based the number of pumpkins carved. Keene will get at least $10,000 for its schools.
