Was I the only one who looked out their window on October 12th to SNOW showers? Depending on whether you are a winter or summer person, this could be incredible or devastating news. I personally LOVE Spring and Fall -- of course they happen to be the shortest seasons to enjoy. Story of my life. Then Tuesday night the house felt like it was sitting on top of a giant overloaded washing machine ( something I know a lot about). I honestly thought it was my big dog leaning on my desk to scratch at first. Poor thing -- I yelled at him for it too. Your GSA staff has been putting in some hours making sure you have plenty of prime volunteer opportunities and fun stuff to do. The first that is ready to go public is below. VERY exciting! Watch for more soon. **Don't forget the Pumpkin Festival is this weekend. There are a few shifts left - you have until Friday at 4pm to claim one. Kel
The Granite State Ambassadors
have been chosen
to represent the Bridges House
(the Governor's official residence) as its docents. The Friends of Bridges House, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has recently been raising funds to renovate and modernize the house, while respecting and retaining its historic character. To further their efforts, the house will be open for tours during the holiday season this year. The Granite State Ambassadors are invited to help with this exciting project by offering guests information, history and stories about the house while it is open to the public. The event will run from November 11 - December 16th with several event shifts daily. Find out more! We will be opening the calendar for sign up on Friday, October 19th at 4pm.

GSA Visitor Center Blog
By: Jim Guild, GSA
NH Made Class 1997 Every other Sunday evening, my wife Jill and I volunteer at the NH Information Booth at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire. Most Sundays we get questions regarding how to get people to where they are going, where to eat along the way, luggage, rental cars, the questions you would expect when staff in a visitor center. Last week, there were some flight delays so we were busy recommending hotels (especially those with shuttle service and "distressed passenger rates") to people who approached the booth for help. This one couple, along with their request to find a hotel with shuttle service (they already had turned in their rental car) asked "I wonder if you would have the answer to this crazy question?" I answered "I usually do!" They continued, "What are those purple, kite looking, things in your trees?" --- hummmmmm "You got me on that one!" I answered.
Find out Jim's answer.... _____________________________________
Another side to the Granite State Ambassadors (GSAs)......A lovely guest visiting from Australia came to the in seeking information on New Hampshire. After she left, and joined her family to dine at one of our local restaurant's she discovered that her sapphire stone was missing from her ring. She went back to the information center thinking she lost it there. The GSA on duty tried to help her find it , but no luck. Our GSA asked her to leave her name and room number at where she was staying in case someone found it. Our hero Jill Guild found the stone in the doorway, and promptly brought it to the hotel with a note for our guest from down under. The lady came back into the information center and was ecstatic. We help in anyway we can. and sometimes we are successful !

What are our GSAs up to?
To show you how many québécois are on the ship, everyone greets you with "bonjour". They just assume you are a francophone, to the consternation of some anglophones. But not us of course. Tonight we set sail for France. We'll be there by morning. Well at least the French colony of St. Pierre Miquelon, the last vestige of New France in North America.
