Interview with Geoff Downer: Let Data Do Decision Making

How to Succeed in Business? Just ask an Olympic Athlete.

~by Dimitri Garder, Global-Z Captain

Sweeeeppp! Hurry!!! Hard!!!! Yes, it's curling, and the recent media coverage of the quirky sport, relatively new to the Olympics, has introduced the unique lingo of the game into the common vernacular. For those of us who actively compete in the sport, it's fun to watch the general public gaining an appreciation and knowledge of the game. People have fun learning about the sport and love to demonstrate their newfound knowledge by asking lots of questions; "Are you the one who sweeps or the one who throws the rocks?" (everyone on the team does both of those things); "What do you call the thing that looks like a broom?" (we call it a broom); "What do you call the thing that looks like a rock?" (we call it a rock); "What do you call it when you throw it down the ice?" (we call it throwing the rock); and so forth. Curling is eminently unpretentious.

But one of the most important details in the game is one that is almost always overlooked, in fact it's often under-appreciated even by experienced curlers. This critical detail is the ice.

What does Curling have to do with business?

Spring is a time for change. The temperature, trees, grass and clocks all change. We introduce new seasonal food into our diets and our clothing sheds some heavier layers to reveal a more refreshed, happier, version of ourselves. This spring, Global-Z is embracing change. It's a time that is re-energizing for our company. The team is working harder than ever to keep the wheels turning and the data clean. Our company has invested in new system infrastructure, new global service innovations, new markets and even some new faces. Global-Z is definitely in the midst of a transformational period in our 25 year history.

We hope everyone has a wonderful spring season. Here at Global-Z, spirits remain high and everyone is hard at work to make sure we provide our customers with the best services possible.
