Write Your Easter Sermon with Confidence

By Mark Pierce, Rick Warren's Ministry Toolbox

Today I sit down to write my Easter sermon. My parishioners may be surprised to know that this is one of the hardest to write. What can I say that hasn't been said before? How do I keep it fresh and engaging? When I finally get over these concerns and start writing, I'm immediately slammed with another issue - how can I say everything that needs to be said and still keep my sermon down to the time I have to talk? Here is what I remind myself each time I write the Easter message for my congregation.

Each year is different. The idea that I cannot write anything new or different is a fallacy of my limited imagination. The truth is each year is different. My audience is different. There will be people sitting in our pews that have never heard an Easter message in my church before. Even those lifetime members with perfect attendance haven't heard an Easter sermon for at least 52 weeks. Most importantly I am different. [read more]

Easter Children's Talk

By Pastor Don Ginkel

Good morning boys and girls! On this happy Easter morning I want you to listen to 1 Cor. 15:52, "The dead will be raised imperishable."  Imperishable means won't die, won't perish, won't go away. Let's say it together, "The dead will be raised imperishable."  Let's say it again and have the adults join us: "The dead will be raised imperishable."  This is Easter Sunday, a very important Sunday. We are going to learn something very, very important.

Sometimes I like to have something I don't have, like, I like to have rhubarb, so a few days ago I planted a rhubarb plant in my little garden, and this summer I will have rhubarb jam and rhubarb pie. Hmmmmm, good. But there are other things I would like to have, too, so I thought I would plant those today and then you can watch them grow. [read more]

"The Many Wonders of Heaven"

By Pastor Don Ginkel

To double and even triple the size of your Bible study group (hundreds of study groups have this kind of growth), use this eight lesson study course on Easter Sunday or the first Sunday after. Brief comments we've receive in the past:

Rev. John R. Ramsey - "I personally want to learn more about my real home, the place where I'll spend eternity. I felt that our members and their friends would like to learn the same. Bible class attendance has doubled!"

Rev. David Likeness - "Our current attendance averages 35 to 40. We are now expecting 100 people when we begin the course."

Rev. Terry Hoese - "We had 60 people attend the first session of The Many Wonders of Heaven. Great turn out and great discussion. Took us three sessions to complete the first lesson. The Lord be praised! Had to order more books and now ordering a third time."

Rev. Harold Wegner - "We advertised the study for four weeks using the "Heaven Flyer." 114 individuals signed up for a book before we began the course. This was more than double the number of people we have had up to this point. It is obvious that this topic prompts a high level of interest."
