Dear Hillview Families,

Sewing machines and tents and veggies - oh my! These are just some of the items we need to make Mini-Courses run smoothly for the week of March 28 - 31.  As we get closer and closer to our kick-off, please consider donating or loaning supplies or volunteering to chaperone a field trip. There are many ways you can help make this week a truly memorable experience for all our students. If you have an item or some time for a field trip for any course - it doesn't need to be your child's - we would appreciate your help. Unless otherwise noted, supplies should be brought to the Hillview Office beginning Monday, March 21. Please clearly label any items with the name of Mini-Course requesting the item. If you would like your item returned, please also label with your name and phone number.

Please see below for those Mini-Courses that need your help. The accompanying links will take you to Google forms or Sign-up Geniuses, or provide you with the email of the contact.

Adventures in Babysitting
Do you have children's toys and art supplies around your house that we can borrow? Many fun items are needed to create Hillview's very own childcare center. Chaperones are also needed to help supervise children. The Hillview students will do the work of entertaining the young children; adults are needed "just in case!" Mini-course teachers will also be supervising. Please click here to sign up.

Amazing Race
Be part of the adventure as teams of students complete their scavenger hunts! As a chaperone, you also film the kids in their Race Challenges. Chaperones are needed for San Francisco on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 29 and 30, all day. Sign up using this Signup Genius

Around the World: Mexico, Spain, & France
Many easy-to-purchase grocery items (sweet potatoes, oranges, eggs, butter, milk, etc.) are needed for this multi-cultural gastronomical experience. Yum! Please bring any items to Hillview on Friday morning, March 25. Use this Google form to let us know what you can bring.

The Art of War
Spend a fascinating day at the beautiful San Francisco Presidio as a chaperone on Tuesday, all day. Please email Mark Watkins ([email protected]) if you are interested.

Caring for Critters
Want to spend the day in beautiful Sausalito? Animal-loving (and kid-loving) chaperones are needed for a full-day trip on Wednesday, March 30 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Marine Mammal Center facilities. Both are super fun and interesting destinations! One parent is also requested to help make pet treats on Monday morning at Hillview. Please sign up using this Signup Genius.

CSI and Law Enforcement
Chaperones are needed for the CHP tour and Paintball on March 31. Please email Kathy Koenig ([email protected]if you are interested.

Discovery Channel Favorites - How It's Made
The kids in this fun course will create all kinds of experiments, from candy to soap to rockets. Many easy-to-find grocery items are needed. Please click on this Signup Genius to provide one or more of the items needed for this course and help our students explore their curiosity and creativity.

Let's Go Ride
The bike riding course would like to borrow bike trainers - stands that hold bikes in place for stationary riding - as a back-up plan for rain. Please contact Beth Shvodian ([email protected]if you can loan one.

Outdoor Survival
We need 4-5 tents, GPS navigation devices, and a propane stove. Please email Nancy Witeck ([email protected]if you can loan these items.

Picture This!
1-2 chaperones are needed to join the group at the SF Zoo and Land's End on Wednesday, March 30 from 8:15 am-3:05 pm, as budding photographers learn how to capture their visions. Please email Jim Stoneham ([email protected]if you are interested.

Sew Busy Quilting
Do you have a sewing machine to lend for the week? Please contact Kristin Fichou ([email protected]if you can help out, and we'll stop needling you :-)

Vet Tech
Making treats and toys for the shelter animals at Peninsula Humane Society is a fun activity in this course, and things like socks, dog training treats and pet-themed decals are needed. We need volunteers for pet treat making onMonday morning, too!  Please click on this Signup Genius to donate items or your time.

Boy, doesn't looking at all these amazing courses makes you wish you were back in Middle School, only at Hillview? Even though you can't turn back the hands of time and join the fun as a student, there are still lots of ways you can support the realization of so many courses. We thank you in advance for your partnership.

All the best,

Willy Haug, Principal
