EXTENDED Opportunity to contribute to Hillview Teacher/Staff Gift Fund

The final deadline to donate to the 14th Annual Teacher and Staff Gift Fund is June 3! So far, we have received contributions from only 13% of Hillview families and collected just 45% of the funds received last year. Please consider contributing so that we may collectively thank our 70 plus Hillview teachers and staff.  Any amount is appreciated. All proceeds are anonymous and used to purchase gift cards for delivery on the last day of school.

For PayPal users, click here to send it to jgkispert@sbcglobal.net. Please add "Hillview Teacher Gift Fund" to the note.

If you wish to send a check, a please email Lauren Calhoon for further details. Thank you for recognizing our terrific Hillview team!

Attention current 7th grade parents! The fabulous Washington, DC expedition for 8th graders will again be offered as a Mini-Course choice from March 27 - April 1, 2016. The time to register for this trip is NOW. To get the best availability and pricing on our trip itinerary, we are taking registrations now through June 5. If you wait until after June 5, we cannot guarantee a spot for your child, and it will be at an increased cost. Please note that this is different from the registration process last year. If your child would like to participate in the Washington, DC trip as an eighth grader in 2016, please click here to read the information and registration materials. Deadline to register is June 5. If you have questions, please contact minicourse@mpcsd.org.

Lost and Found: Please be aware that any unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated to Haven House on June 5. Make sure to check for your misplaced items before then.

We Are Grateful for you Hillview Staff! Throughout the year, parents tell us what a great team we have here at Hillview. We share these stories at our staff meetings and use them to encourage each other when the going gets tough! Now there is a new button on the
Hillview website that allows parents to get those messages directly to Principal Burmeister. Please look for it on the home page just above Hillview News, and as the school year is coming to a close, give a shout out to a teacher, aide, staff member, administrator...someone who has made a difference for you or your child.

Hawkapalooza (n): a wacky, crazy event only for Hillview students to celebrate the last day of school, Wednesday, June 10. Teachers and staff will be handling the supervision and chaperoning of the event, but we need parent volunteers to manage the lines and run the games (all of which are easy to understand and fun to run!) Please sign up here to help.

Programs & ActivitiesPrograms

French

Hillview Middle School students succeed in National French Contest: This March, 60 Hillview French students in all levels, took part in Le Grand Concours, an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.  The students took a 60 minute test which included multiple choice questions and a listening section. Out of the 90,913 students who took the exam this year, Hillview Middle School had 17 medal winners and 22 honorable mentions. Also, in French 2, our three medal winners were the only middle school students in the Northern California chapter who placed in the top 75th percentile!

Hillview Sports
Intramural SportsPing Pong, badminton, hockey and soccer will be the activities of choice during lunchtime intramural sports for the program's final week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

After School Track has concluded. We thank the coaches, participants, and parents for their commitment. It was a great season! For those of you who haven't returned team jerseys, please return them to the Hillview front office.

Spring Volleyball has also ended their season. We thank those who participated, with a special thank you to Kutlu Aricanli and the other coaching parents who donated their time to this first time program.

Tournament Team Basketball/VolleyballIn case you missed the meeting, more information on next year's tournament teams can be found here.

Questions regarding intramural and after school sports should be directed to Harry Bell
