7th Grade Parent Help Needed: 8th grade graduation is Wednesday, June 10, and it's a Hillview tradition for 7th grade families to host so that 8th grade parents can relax and enjoy the ceremony. Volunteers are needed to bring food for the reception, to set up and clean, and to chaperone the dance. We need everyone's participation to make this event a success. To donate food items please click here to view the online sign up sheet or contact Deanna Schroder7th grade parents are also needed to help with set up and chaperone the post-graduation party. If interested, please contact MaryAnn Shinn.

Hillview Library Books: All Hillview Library Books are due Friday, May 29. Please be sure to return any books and settle fines before the end of the year. Thank you!!

Hillview Middle School is having a Toy Drive: If you would like to donate toys to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, please stop by the Hillview PAC any morning before 8:00 a.m. to leave your donation. All toys must be new due to health reasons but they do not need to be expensive - anything from $1.00 - $10.00 is greatly appreciated. The Toy Drive will end Friday, May 29.

We Are Grateful for you Hillview Staff! Throughout the year, parents tell us what a great team we have here at Hillview. We share these stories at our staff meetings and use them to encourage each other when the going gets tough! Now there is a new button on the
Hillview website that allows parents to get those messages directly to Principal Burmeister. Please look for it on the home page just above Hillview News, and as the school year is coming to a close, give a shout out to a teacher, aide, staff member, administrator...someone who has made a difference for you or your child.

Hawkapalooza (n): a wacky, crazy event only for Hillview students to celebrate the last day of school, Wednesday, June 10. Teachers and staff will be handling the supervision and chaperoning of the event, but we need parent volunteers to manage the lines and run the games (all of which are easy to understand and fun to run!) Please sign up here to help.

Watch this space ... for your byline! If you like the idea of knowing about Hillview events before they happen, and if you want to stretch your creative muscle, we have the perfect job for you! The newsletter team is looking for a co-editor for the 2015-2016 school year, working with a seasoned co-editor and Communications Chair. You'd work every other week, compiling and editing content provided by Hillview staff and parent volunteers. It's a fun way to be connected with what's going on at Hillview without attending meetings, while working at home on your own time. If you're interested, please email Michelle Box or Kate Kennedy

Last Chance to Give to the Hillview Teacher/Staff Gift Fund: This is the last week that you can give to the 14th Annual Teacher Staff Gift Fund! Parent volunteers have organized a centralized fund to recognize more than 70 Hillview teachers and staff members. All gifts are anonymous and all proceeds are used to purchase gift cards for delivery on the last day of school. So far, 10% of families have donated and we've collected 36% of the funds raised last year. Please consider helping us give the gift fund a boost with whatever contribution is comfortable for you. You may send your contribution via check or paypal. See below for details. Please act by Friday, May 29th.

1) Send a check made out to Katie Angioletti or Jill Kispert. You can either drop it off at the Hillview office or mail it to Katie and Jill at: c/o Hillview Teacher Gift Fund, PO Box 474, Menlo Park, CA 94026.

2) If you are a paypal user, click here and send your donation to jgkispert@sbcglobal.net. Please add "Hillview Teacher Gift Fund" in the notes field.

Hillview Middle School students succeed in National French Contest: This March, 60 Hillview French students in all levels, took part in Le Grand Concours, an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.  The students took a 60 minute test which included multiple choice questions and a listening section. Out of the 90,913 students who took the exam this year, Hillview Middle School had 17 medal winners and 22 honorable mentions.
