Important Annual Hillview Parent Survey: Please complete by April 5th
Parents - we would love to hear your feedback on how things are going so far this year at Hillview!  Please take this opportunity to share your valuable viewpoint, provide constructive suggestions for areas of growth, and/or highlight strengths.  Click here to complete the survey any time before April 5th.

All survey responses are anonymous. These responses will be reviewed by the Hillview Site Council, including Principal Burmeister and Associate Principal Haug, to aid in making Hillview the best possible school it can be for our children. A report highlighting key strengths and areas for growth will be made available on the Hillview website in May.

Thank you in advance for participating! Questions? Contact Site Council Chairperson Andrea Luskin, Associate Principal Willy Haug or Principal Erik Burmeister.

Great authors are coming to Hillview! On Thursday, April 9, Elizabeth Wein will be speaking to students during Open Session about her new book, Black Dove, White Raven. All 8th graders with Quest are invited to attend along with some Quest classes from other grades. Any interested student may ask their OS teacher for permission to attend - get a "golden ticket" at the library! Order forms for signed and/or dedicated books and more information is available on the library website.

The ever-popular Wendy Mass will be skyping with our Author, Author minicourse. She's offering to sign any of her books for students - download the order form and get a head start on summer reading!

Important dates for 8th Grade Parents:  Last week a letter was sent to all 8th grade families outlining expectations for students as well as important information about the events leading up to and through Graduation night. A copy of the letter can be found on the Hillview PTO website.

Students should also have received their Sequoia District high school registration form.  It requires a parent signature and an elective choice.  If you disagree with any of the class recommendations, the time to address this is during the Online Information Update during the first two weeks of May. Please return these forms to Ms. Watts as soon as possible, but no later than Tuesday, March 31. Important:  If your student will not be attending a Sequoia district school, you will need to attach an acceptance email or letter from an alternate school to the district registration form and turn that in by the due date. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Watts

Please take special note of the change in attire for Grad Night and the use of ble graduation gowns for all 8th graders during the promotion ceremony. You may either buy your own to keep, pass down or donate to the school after you have graduated; or Hillview will provide a gown for you. (Gowns provided by Hillview may have been previously worn and/or not a perfect fit, but will be plenty nice for the occasion.) The website to order these gowns will be open from Monday, March 30 - May 1. To place your order, go to www.hillviewasb.com or have your child stop by the student store on or after March 30.

Upcoming 8th Grade deadlines:
  • Tuesday, March 31 - High school registration forms due to Ms. Watts
  • Friday, April 3 - Great America permission slips due to your students' English teacher
Eighth Grade Graduation Party: The graduation party is an annual celebration funded by 8th grade families. The ceremony, reception and party are free for all students, but every donation helps to send off our 8th graders in grand fashion. Recently, letters went out to 8th grade families that did not donate during online registration last summer - please accept our apologies if you received one in error. We are asking for a minimum donation of $50 from parents to support the graduation party. Any contribution above $50 will provide scholarship funding for those with financial constraints. A gift of any size is appreciated, though you need not contribute for your student to attend. Please donate by March 28th onlineQuestions? Want to help? Please contact Kasia Lewis or Carol Kelly.

M-A Open House for 8th Grade Families: Interested in learning more about M-A?  Come to the Open House on Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., starting in the M-A PAC. This is a great opportunity for families to meet 9th grade and elective teachers, gather information from a 9th grade Resource Fair, and learn about M-A's many programs. Information will be available about registration and address validation. For more information, please see the attached flyer.

Hillview Middle School 5th Grade Parent Night: All parents and guardians of 5th grade students are invited to attend on Tuesday, April 7, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Hillview PAC. Meet teachers, learn about middle school transition, attend our Elective Fair and hear about all the great advantages of Hillview's program. See our flyer for more information. Student attendance is optional.

SamTrans Rider SurveySamTrans is interested in rider feedback.  If you or your student rides SamTrans and you would like to give feedback regarding service, routes, efficiency, timeliness, and other general SamTrans transportation issues, please use this link to share your thoughts with SamTrans. The survey will be open until April 12 and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Motorized ScootersThe Menlo Park Police Department has prepared a flyer regarding motorized scooter use.  Motorized scooters are not legal unless the rider is 16 years old.  Because of this age limit, we can not have motorized scooters on our campus.  Please make sure your student has a safe and legal method of transportation to and from school.
