Mini-Courses Week
|
We did it! A fabulous car show, the DEA and meth lab, local baking star Beth Ann Goldberg, even a baby alligator were among our many and varied on campus visits last week. Students also traveled over 2,500 miles, from Sausalito to Angel Island to Monterey, to experience everything from marine mammal care to rock climbing to camping. Whether your child tasted and cooked new foods, pondered an exciting career, wrote the beginning of a novel, planned a new downtown, kayaked for the first time or just got to know a different teacher and some new friends, we hope they not only enjoyed Mini-Course week but learned something they didn't know before.
We can't thank each and every parent enough for helping plan and lead the courses, donating supplies and expertise, and getting your children to school with a positive attitude. We welcome your stories at minicourse@mpcsd.org.
Eat Your Heart Out would like to thank all those who have lent equipment. All equipment will be cleaned and ready for pick up on Monday, March 24 in the main conference room in the office. If you cannot make it on Monday, please email nancykessler@velcap.com to make other arrangements. Again, thank you for helping make Eat Your Heart Out a success.

Proof of Immunization Requirement for Incoming 7th Graders
|
All incoming 7th graders in the 2014-2015 school year are required by law to provide proof of a whooping cough (Pertussis) booster, or Tdap shot (Td does not meet the requirement). Students will not be admitted to school if proof is not received before the first day of school.
If you have not already done so, please bring an updated copy of your child's immunization record showing proof of Tdap to the school office by Friday, May 30. If there is a verified medical condition against vaccination, you are required to provide the school with a doctor's written statement which must include the specific nature and probable duration of the medical condition. If there is a personal belief for not vaccinating, you are required to obtain a personal belief exemption from your child's physician (form CDPH 8262).
Acceptable proof of immunization includes:
- Print-out or copy of immunization record from your child's clinic or physician's office;
- A copy of the yellow immunization record; or
- A certification of Tdap booster letter from your child's clinic or physician's office.
All these documents must have your child's name, date of birth, date Tdap was administered, and a stamp or physician's signature from the clinic. For more information about the law and whooping cough, visit District Health Services or contact Nancy McMahon, Health Services Assistant or 650-321-7140 (x5912).

Please take a moment to nominate someone you know who goes above and beyond to make a difference in our schools. Hillview Students Win Regional Robotics Contest National Championship Next!
Hillview students (left to right) Daniel Cazares, Axel Ljunggren, Gianluca Zanutta, Tyler Lewis and Annamarie Wire, as early members of the M-A Robotics Team, won the Sacramento Regional Robotics Competition last weekend beating more than 50 teams. The competition pits three-team alliances in a sophisticated game that can best be described as full-court, full-contact robotics basketball. M-A Robotics' victorious alliance leveraged the strength of high school teams from Mountain View and Davis. As the winner of a regional competition, M-A Robotics earned a spot at the National Championship Robotics Competition next month in St. Louis.
M-A Robotics will also compete at the Silicon Valley Regional at San Jose State University on April 3 - 5. For more information, visit the M-A Robotics website. The M-A Robotics Team is also seeking sponsors and is selling LED light bulbs to raise funds. Hillview parent Craig Lewis is coordinating LED sales and can direct sponsorship ideas to the appropriate contacts.
