Dear Hillview Parents and Guardians,
Just one week, a mere seven days, before Hillview's Mini-Courses take-off! We are so grateful for the outpouring of support in connections, materials, and time! We still have a few needs that we hope our community will be able to fill. So we're reaching out. Below you will find a list of needs - a few items and several chaperone opportunities. Check out these FUN opportunities and let us know if you can help.
Before I list the needs, I don't want two important events to get lost "in the shuffle" of Mini-Courses.
- Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. Please join author, Lisa Kay Solomon, and me at Kepler's Books. Lisa will be introducing her hometown, Menlo Park, to her new Wall Street Journal's best selling book, Moments of Impact. She will be interviewing me "NPR-style" highlighting the design work of Hillview's amazing staff and community. Hope to see you there. Click HERE for more information.
- Wednesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. It may be Mini-Course week, but you don't want to miss March's Parent Education event in the Hillview PAC. Best-selling author and sociologist, Christine Carter, shares her wisdom about raising happy children. Since the publication of her book, Raising Happiness, and her many appearances in print and on television, Christine has become a highly sought after expert on science-based tips for productivity, success, and happiness. Join us for this exciting Parent Ed event!
Now for Our Mini-Course Needs...
"Amazing Race" Mini-Course led by Mrs. Gee and Mr. Vaughan would like to request the following volunteers/chaperones on the listed dates. Your student does not need to be in this Mini-Course to participate. Email monicabosch@me.com for more information. If you have ever seen the reality competition show "Amazing Race" then you have an idea of the FUN that awaits you. Parent volunteers will supervise a team of four (4) students and be responsible for giving out clues, taking photos/videos (equipment provided) of the challenges and keeping kids safe while they move through the many challenges and clues they have to solve. We will travel up to San Francisco on Caltrain/BART (tickets will be provided to the chaperones, but you should plan on bringing a lunch). Parents will need to attend a course briefing before the event. This will be a unique and really fun way to interact with our AMAZING Hillview students, and get in on the action of our first ever Hillview Amazing Race.
