6th Grade iPads
|
Students in 6th grade join Hillview's 1:1 iPad program this coming week! Here's what you need to know:
- Sixth graders will attend an iPad Orientation Assembly tomorrow Monday, February 24, during Open Session. At that time, they will be informed about the iPad Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), and they will learn what steps they'll need to take to be issued an iPad. If your 6th grader is absent on Monday, he or she may attend a make-up lunch-time assembly on Tuesday or Wednesday.
- Sixth graders will be bringing home two documents to share with you on Monday afternoon. First of all, he or she will have a personalized letter explaining what you need to do to ensure that your student may be issued an iPad on Wednesday morning. This includes instructions about how to purchase the optional insurance policy. Secondly, he or she will have the full AUP, which you and your student will review together. We ask that your student return the signature page of the AUP no later than Wednesday, February 26, to his or her first period teacher.
- Provided all the paperwork is completed and returned to your student's 1st period teacher on Wednesday, he or she will be issued an iPad on that day.
Please direct any questions to Vice Principal Willy Haug.

Mini Course Update
|
- Over the break, you should have received a very important mailing regarding your child's mini course. Please read this letter carefully and be sure to return your permission slips (there may be more than one!) on time. If you did not receive a mailing, let us know asap by emailing minicourse@mpcsd.org.
- Do you have an old fashioned ice cream maker? The type that uses rock salt, ice and lots of churning? The Eat Your Heart Out mini course is hoping to make ice cream and would like to borrow at least six devices. If you have one to lend by Wednesday, March 12, please contact Alicia Payton. We would be very grateful and return it cleaned by Tuesday, March 25.
- Thank you for all the donations and loans from families during the last few weeks. Your generosity makes the mini courses possible!

The M-A Robotics Team, with Hillview students, is selling energy-efficient LED bulbs for fundraising. The LEDs replace 60W-equivalent bulbs and are the standard bulb shape and size. The same LEDs sell at Home Depot for about $15 apiece and the M-A Robotics Team is selling them for $10 each in volumes of five or more, or $15 each for less than five. These LEDs will save $25 in energy costs over time and are made by American LED leader Cree. For more information and to buy, contact parent volunteer Craig Lewis.
