Dear Parents,
If you were around campus today at lunch, you might have noticed Beatles music playing in the quad, Mini-Course registration going on in the Computer Lab and spirit competitions on the stage. You might also have noticed a police car and a TV station truck. Usually, when parents see such a gathering, it raises their curiosity.
I am writing simply to let you know there is nothing to worry about. KGO (ABC affiliate) was doing a story about the Education Superhighway group that received a large donation from the Gates Foundation and Mark Zuckerberg's foundation to continue the work of developing broadband access for K-12 schools across the country. As Hillview is an example of the future, they asked to film here and interview Mr. Doroquez. County Superintendent Ann Campbell and Education Superhighway CEO Evan Marwell were on campus to be interviewed as well. Our students engaging on their iPads was a backdrop to the future of education as more and more schools access the powerful broadband that Hillview currently possesses.

The Menlo Park Police were on campus at lunch simply to say, "Hi." The officer gave out stickers and said hello to students. MPCSD is working actively with the Menlo Park and Atherton Police Departments to develop a close and supportive relationship because "community matters", not because there are any problems. It was a great day at Hillview. One of 180 other days that just keep getting better as they pass. Have a great weekend, Hillview. |
