Dress Code
We appreciate parent support in ensuring that students follow dress code expectations beginning on Day One. Hillview's dress code is reasonable and fair.
  • Shorts and skirts must be mid thigh.
  • No spaghetti straps, racer backs, tank tops, halter tops, or exposed midriffs.
  • No sagging.
  • No leggings or spandex unless covered by a pair of shorts or a skirt.
Students who come to school out-of-dress code will be asked to change into PE clothes or call home for a change of clothes.

Attention 7th Grade Parents
More than 100 seventh graders still have not turned in their TDAP vaccination forms --a requirement to return to school in seventh grade. If your child has not yet received the TDAP, it is imperative that you have them vaccinated and return the verification form to Hillview before Thursday, August 22 (the first day of school). Forms may be turned in at ACI on Tuesday from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Any seventh grade student without TDAP immunization before Thursday will not be allowed to begin school. A letter was sent out to parents who did not send in their forms.

Pack a Snack for Hillview's Brunch
Everyday, Hillview offers students a 15 minute brunch around 10 a.m. prior to their 35 minute lunch around 12 p.m. Hillview parents are strongly encouraged to pack a healthy snack for their student. High protein and low carb snacks are the best. Students may say they don't need it ... but they DO! Our experience tells us...if you pack it, they'll eat it!

Hot Lunch
Your student can have a hot lunch the first day of school and every school day through

If your child is new to Hillview, you may be asked for a registration code when signing up or ordering. The code to use is "Hillview".

Back-To-School Commute
Join a carpool or bike group or walk group with other families by using the online scheduling tool. Only MPCSD families may register.

2013-14 Grade Level Themes Announced
Each year, our grade level teachers select a theme around which they plan lessons, discussions, and activities. Teaching around themes provides greater engagement, relevance, and context. Throughout the year, parents will find that students are discussing issues related to the themes. Parents are encouraged to engage their students in conversations about the themes. This years themes are:
 6th Grade: The Hero's Journey
 7th Grade: Survive and Thrive
 8th Grade: Commit to Care

Don't Understand the New ASB Card? Want to Know More?
Hillview's summer packet describes the new ASB Card. While ASB Cards are new for Hillview, sales of ASB Cards are common practice at middle and high schools throughout the state. If you are still confused or want to know more about the purchase and benefits of ASB Cards, our Activities Department has posted a handy frequently asked questions or FAQ sheet.

"Parents on Campus" Encourages Parents to Be Visible and Involved
Many middle school students feign horror than have their parents hang out on campus; however, their efforts to push parents away are little more than a developmentally appropriate symptom of "individuation." In other words, it's totally normal. However, there is no more important time to be involved in your child's life, development, and schooling than in middle school. In an effort to roll-out the welcome mat to Hillview parents, we are beginning a program called "Parents on Campus." PoC is requires no sign up, is completely voluntary and involves no commitment. The program simply welcomes parents to come on campus during lunch time to be a presence on campus. Parents are welcome to eat with their child, walk the track with one or more other Hillview parents, or hang out in the library. Parents can be eyes and ears during this time; they can provide a smile to students. There is no responsibility to discipline students or serve as a yard duty. If a PoC sees something that raises their concern, they simply need to find a yard duty on campus who will address the issue. The only expectation for PoC's is that they be parents or guardians of a current Hillview student and that they sign in at the reception area in the front office AND wear a visitor's sticker for the entire time they are on campus. No need to RSVP; just show up. Parents are welcome at Hillview!
