Dear Hillview Parents,
Coming soon to your USPS mailbox outside your home ...
Mailing Please be on the lookout for an important envelope. In the next few days, you should receive a 6.5" x 9.5" manilla colored envelope with VERY important and helpful information from Hillview Middle School. Save it, open it, read it, cherish it! Enclosed will be incredibly helpful information regarding Arena Check In (ACI) plus our new bell schedule, PTO/MPAEF info, important dates, permission slips for Camp Hillview and MUCH MORE! Please don't toss this essential tool. Start your year off strong with a ton of helpful information!
Please COMPLETE and BRING all the FORMS and PAPERS from the mailing with you to ACI to expedite the ACI process.
Should you not receive the envelope for some reason, extras are available by calling our front office or stopping by between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Please note, the office will be closed for professional development on August 14 and 15).
ACI (Arena Check-In) Included in the envelope you will find information about registering and pre-paying for all your start-of-school needs using our extremely helpful online store. We are STRONGLY encouraging parents to help us alleviate long waits in lines by logging on to http://tinyurl.com/hillview-aci in order to complete the payment processes PRIOR to ACI. A small convenience fee will apply (just to cover our costs); however, using the online pre-pay option will serve you and the school well.
Please be sure to attend the SCHEDULED date and time for your child's ACI. If you have more than one child at Hillview, we will be able to accommodate your needs at just one ACI; however, you are welcome to attend both, especially if one of your children is a sixth grader.
Please remind your students that the picture they will take at ACI will be their yearbook and I.D. photo. They'll want to plan accordingly.

First Day of School If you are a parent of an incoming 6th grader, please remember that school will begin one day early for 6th graders. Sixth graders will have their first day of orientation (Camp Hillview) on Wednesday, August 21 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Permission slips for Friday's Camp Hillview Field Trip are included in everyone's packet. Please complete and bring to ACI. (Note to parents of 7th and 8th graders: A permission slip for the Field Trip was included in everyone's packet. If you do NOT have a 6th grader or a 8th Grade WEB Leader, please ignore the permission slip).
The official first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 22 at 8:25 a.m. Come early as traffic will be congested the first two weeks of school. The first day of school is a Thursday, thus it is an early release. Students will be released at 2:03 p.m.; please arrange for pick up at the appropriate time. Please note: After-School Programs (Homework Club, Math Clinic, and Flight School mentoring) do not begin until Monday, September 16.
Back-to-School Scholarly Dress Expectations Assuming many of you are Back-to-School clothes shopping, allow me to remind you of the Scholarly Dress Expectations at Hillview. Please note: our dress expectations will be enforced beginning the first day of school.
Shirts: Straps and sleeves must cover undergarments. No spaghetti straps, halter tops, racer backs, cut outs, or short tops. No inappropriate logos, advertisements, etc. Shorts/Skirts: Must be mid-thigh. (Parents...please help us with this!) Pants: No holes or cuts above mid-thigh. No sagging. We will also be reinstating our rule of no leggings. We encountered too many issues last year with our compromise to cover their back side with a long shirt or sweater.
Math Placement Prior to ACI, parents should receive a letter in the mail detailing the results of the spring math assessment and identifying their child's initial placement for math for next year. We have experienced some challenges with the assessment service we use and apologize for the delay in getting this information to you. We are actively engaged in expediting the process. Once the placement letter is received, parents with questions can email their student's counselor or complete a Schedule Change Request form at ACI. A reminder about your assigned counselor: Debbie Devoto is the counselor for 6th graders with last names A - L and 8th graders; Robyn Watts is the counselor for 6th graders with last names M - Z and all 7th graders.
There's so much happening at Hillview right now; the energy is electric. We can't wait to welcome you and your family to another outstanding school year! |
