Dear Parents,
This morning you may have noticed that a couple of Menlo Park Police officers were visible at drop-off. I am writing to assure you that everything is okay and there is no reason to be concerned that today is any less safe than any other day. The purpose of today's police presence, and any future presence at school over the next two weeks, is related to increased outreach at the end of the school year. You may have read that some vandalism occurred at La Entrada recently. In addition, over the last two days we have noticed some minor damage on our school campus as well as inappropriate posters posted on some walls after school hours. Out of an abundance of caution and to send a message to any high school or middle school student who might have nefarious plans to play pranks around school, MPPD is increasing their presence on our campus over the next two weeks. This presence will occur during all hours of the day. If you have a graduating 8th grader (or even a graduating senior), you might have a conversation with them about your expectations regarding pranks.

Erik Burmeister, Principal
