6th Grade Parents: Vaccination |
All incoming 7th graders in the 2013-14 school year are required by law to provide proof of a whooping cough (pertussis) booster or Tdap shot. (Td does not meet the requirement.) Students will not be admitted to school if proof is not received before the first day of school.
If you have not already done so, please bring an updated copy of your child's immunization record to the school office by Friday, May 31. If there is a verified medical condition against vaccination, you are required to provide the school with a doctor's written statement which must include the specific nature and probable duration of the medical condition. If there is a personal belief for not vaccinating, you must come into the school office and sign a personal belief exemption.
Acceptable proof of immunization includes:- Print-out or copy of immunization record from your child's clinic or physician's office
- A copy of the yellow immunization record
- A certification of Tdap booster letter from your child's clinic or physician's office.
All these documents must have your child's name, date of birth, date Tdap was administered and a stamp or physician's signature from the clinic. For more information about the law and whooping cough, visit the District Health Services website or contact Nancy McMahon, Health Services Assistant or call (650) 321-7140 x 5912.

M-A Volunteering
|
Is your 8th grader attending Menlo-Atherton High School next year? If so, please sign up to be on the administrative support volunteer list. There are no specific obligations. When the M-A Administration needs parent volunteers, we send out an email. If the volunteer opportunity fits in your schedule, you sign up; otherwise no need to respond.
A sampling of events that use lots of parent volunteers are Arena Check-In, textbook distribution, schedule distribution, STAR test sorting and AP test proctoring. Volunteering for Administrative Support a few times a year is loads of fun and a great way to meet other M-A parents and find out what's happening at M-A. To be placed on the list, please send in an email with your name to AdminSupport@mabearspta.org.

Hillview Spring Concert
|
The Hillview Spring Concert is Wednesday, May 15 in the Hillview PAC. It will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to hear our wonderful groups.
One of the evening's highlights will be the Vivaldi Violin Concerto in B Minor featuring soloists Sophie Murff, Elley Goldberg, Aurora Vaughan and Annabel Yau. Also performing will be the Jazz Band, 7th/8th Grade Concert Band, and 6th Grade Orchestra and Concert Band. See you there!
|
Flower Day | All students are asked to bring a few flowers and drop them off at the collection carts in front of the school or deliver them to the Hillview kitchen prior to the start of class on Flower Day, Thursday, May 23. Bouquets will be assembled from the donations and delivered to all Hillview staff in appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
Please help us make this event colorful and bright for our Hillview staff! We'd love to have your help from 8 - 11 a.m. (with a few volunteers from 7:15 - 8 a.m. for set up) to arrange and deliver home-grown bouquets to our staff.
For more details and to volunteer, send an email to Hilary Holmquest.

Please contact Robyn Watts, if you have questions and/or would like to volunteer. Thank you!

She would love to have guest speakers with this expertise or even host a field trip to your place of work with about 20 - 25 students.
Please contact Julie Hilborn if interested. Thank you!

Are You In RUN |
Join the first district and foundation 5K walk or run on Sunday, June 2 at 9 a.m. at Oak Knoll School.
Formerly known as the Otter Run, the principals, PTO presidents from all four schools (Encinal, Hillview, Laurel, and Oak Knoll) and the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation have combined efforts to expand the Otter Run and host a larger community event, raising critical funds for all of our schools.
The Are You In RUN has attracted more attention from our local sponsors than ever before -- from first-time sponsors who are excited to be a part of this first-annual run to long-time, loyal Otter Run sponsors who are thrilled to be a part of its expansion. If you would like to be a sponsor and have your name on the run t-shirt, please visit the sponsor page.
Cost is $25 for early registration by Thursday, May 16 and $30 for late registration for the chip-timed event. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, chip timing, bib and ribbon. To ensure your t-shirt size is available race day, please register online by May 16.
