Pirate Day at the Higgins

Talk Like A Pirate Day Saturday, February 16th

Avast ye land lubbers! Pirates are taking over the Higgins! Come dressed as your favorite pirate. Games, crafts, cutlass classes, pirate talking workshops, and more! Prizes for best dressed pirates. Don't be a bilge rat and miss this swashbuckling event.

Swashbuckling 101 Workshop
February 16th  12:30 pm
Avast ye scurvy dogs! Be prepared to defend your Jolly Roger with the fury of your cutlass and slash of your dagger. Explore what it takes to keep the even most ferocious Barbary pirate foes at bay. 

Knight Training Workshops
February 18, 19, 20, 21, & 22   12:30 pm
Learn how knights fought visor-to-visor on the battlefield. Try your hand at the knightly longsword in these 45-minute hands-on workshops.

Youth Summer Swordplay
Week-long sessions begin July 8th
Ever wondered what it would be like to wield a knightly sword, a Viking axe or a pirate's cutlass? Explore the Higgins Armory Museum in a completely new way this summer. Choose from: Knightly Arts Academy, Defending Sherwood, A Viking Adventure, and Introduction to Piracy. Registration now open!

Did you make New Year's Resolution to be more active or get more exercise? Our Salle d'Armes or Viking Training sessions are a great way to get you moving in 2013!

Siege the Day
 
Siege the Day - Saturday, May 4, 2013
 
The Higgins invites you to participate in Siege the Day, our 4th annual trebuchet contest!
 
Gather your friends to build a real working medieval trebuchet, then bring your creation to the museum for a day of outdoor competitive fun.
 
CastleKids StoryHour

StoryHour Wednesday, February 6th
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

From damsels in distress to mighty dragons, join us on the first Wednesday of every month as we share tales of adventure, from well-known fairy tales to modern picture books in the setting of our medieval Great Hall. Great for ages 3 to 5.

$12 for adult w/ one child ($8 for museum members). Includes admission, program will craft related to the story, and a snack.
