Gingerbread Castle Competition

Gingerbread Castle Saturday, December 15th

Wander the halls of our castle and vote for your favorite in our 3rd Annual Gingerbread Castle Competition. Culinary students, restauranteur, and amateurs all compete for first place. Barbara Houle, writer of the Table Hoppin' column in the Worcester Telegram, and John Lawrence, owner of Pepper's Fine Catering, will be judging the competition.

 

Enjoy the sounds of the season by Carl Kamp, classical guitarist, and the Master Singers of Worcester performing a capella carols.

Gauntlet Girl December 26th - 30th

See, live and in-person, the toys that knights played with during our week of presentations, workshops, and interactive experiences!  
 
See a knight in full armor as he guards the Higgins Castle. How much does his armor weigh?  How old was he when he got his first suit? Can you imagine receiving armor for a gift!? 
 
Try your hand at swordplay in our 45-minute, drop-in workshop, or create a gift for yourself or a loved one in our shield workshop.

From damsels in distress to mighty dragons, join us on the first Wednesday of every month as we share tales of adventure, from well-known fairy tales to modern picture books in the setting of our medieval Great Hall. Great for ages 3 to 5.

 

$12 for adult w/ one child ($8 for museum members). Includes admission, program with craft related to the story, and a snack.

Knight Training
Dec 26, 27, & 28  12:30 pm
Learn how knights fought visor-to-visor on the battlefield. Try your hand at the knightly longsword in this 45-minute hands-on workshop.

Ongoing class every Tu/Th/Sa
A safe, progressive system of instruction, building overall fitness and coordination as you learn living swordplay traditions handed down from the days when a person's life might depend on skill with a blade.

Ongoing class meets every Tu/Th/Sa
Learn and practice the combat skills of medieval Europe's most fearsome warriors: the Vikings. We draw heavily on the medieval sagas set in Viking-age Iceland, stories that often depict Viking-age fights. Permission of instructor required to join.
