Greetings fellow Pioneers:
Hope this finds you all in good health, good spirits and maybe warmer than you've been lately...unless you live in Florida where snow and cold weather are seldom issues.
We're sure proud of all our athletic teams. The men recently finished second in the NAIA National Indoor Meet and the women were eighth; the swimming and diving team and wrestling teams fared well at nationals; the baseball team is off to a 5-1 start in Sooner Conference play and the Cheer and Dance Team finished third and the Pioneer Pete mascot was voted best in Wayland's division of the national competition.
Of course the Pioneers, who won the Sooner Conference Tournament, and Queens both advanced to the national tournaments in Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium and Independence, Mo., Events Center, respectively.
The Pioneers (27-5) play Evangel, Mo. (20-12) at 3 p.m. this Wednesday and the Queens (19-11) open with Mid-America Nazarene (26-6) at 8 p.m. Thursday. If the Pioneers continue to win, they'll play at 9 a.m. Friday, 10:30 Saturday, 6 p.m. Monday and 7 p.m. next Tuesday (championship). If the Queens continue to win, they would play at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday and 6:30 (championship) on Tuesday.
I'll be doing the play-by-play for all games and you can hear them by logging onto wbuathletics.com or http://mixlr.com/plainview-radio-sports-channel-1/ starting about 15 minutes before tipoff. You can check wbuathletics.com for updates. Text me at 806-729-7154 and tell me who you are and where you're listening to the game and I'll try to acknowledge you during the broadcast.
We're having a Dutch treat dinner at 7 THIS WEDNESDAY night at Chappell's, 323 Armour Road in North Kansas City. Even if you don't know for sure if you can join us until Wednesday, please come on. My cell phone is 806-729-7154.
Footprints alumni magazine will be coming out in April so if you have any items for Class Notes such as a wedding, new baby, job promotion or other news, please send it to andrewsd@wbu.edu by April 1. Pictures are great, too.
I still have copies of my book, "Things I Have Saw and Did - 50 Years of Thinking Out Loud," available for $25 each (includes mailing) with proceeds benefitting the general scholarship fund. Send a check to Danny Andrews, 1305 Itasca, Plainview, TX 79072 and I'll sign your copy and get it right back in the mail.
