Hey, Fellow Pioneers:
I want to commend Amy Loafman, our former Assistant Director of Alumni (now teaching kindergartners at Thunderbird Elementary in Plainview), and Sarah Langston, one of our Young Alumni Board members, for their great work in organizing the alumni involvement in the Initiation of the Flame ceremony as part of Koinonia. We had about 30 people attend a dinner before the ceremony at which Greg Brown, Tyler Topper and Aubrey Pedigo made very meaningful comments about their Wayland experiences and the importance of being a supportive alum and carrying on our great traditions.
There's still time to register for Homecoming Sept. 18-20 and we hope you'll make plans to attend if you haven't already. You can register online at wbualumni.com or by calling 806-291-3603. Lots of fun activities are scheduled and we hope you'll be a part.
Let me encourage you to mark Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 on your calendar to be a part of the Big Give, a unique effort to raise $106,000 in celebration of the University's 106th anniversary. More information will be forthcoming.
We're excited about the Pioneer football team starting the season with a 28-21 victory over Arizona Christian in Phoenix and now three straight games at home. Our soccer, volleyball, golf and cross country teams are in action and we're anticipating another great overall athletic season.
Pioneers Forever,
Danny Andrews
Director of Alumni Development
