Greetings to Pioneers everywhere:
Summer's around the corner and things are sizzlin' at Wayland as we look forward to an early Homecoming that will be on top of us soon after school starts back in mid-August. Assistant Alumni Director Amy Loafman has run with the organizational ball and we've got some fun activities in the works to go along with our traditional events that will salute several distinguished alumni in the Friday Chapel and the Saturday Athletic Hall of Honor.
Save the dates of Sept.18-20 and plan to join us for a super weekend. We'll keep you updated via subsequent newsletters.
We congratulate almost 90 students who received their undergraduate or master's degree in Commencement on the Plainview campus May 10 and many others who have received their degrees during the spring or will "walk the stage" at our various external campuses or through the Virtual Campus in the coming months.
We're happy to report almost $4,000 has been added to the general scholarship fund through proceeds from the fabulous Ernie Haase and Signature Sound concert on May 9 when almost 800 people attended. Paul Harkey, BA'03, wowed the audience with his great bass voice. Several said hearing him sing "Old Man River" was worth the price of admission.
Be safe...have a great summer....and stay in touch!
Sincerely,
Danny Andrews
