CHOG Convention 2014 Comes to MACU Country
From June 23-26, 2014, the Church of God community in the Sooner State welcomes guests from far and near who will be attending the Church of God Convention. An integral part of that Church of God community in Oklahoma is Mid-America Christian University. How much do you know about the connection between MACU and the Church of God?
"Our relationship with the Church of God is of immense importance to Mid-America Christian University (MACU)," Dr. John Fozard, MACU president explains. "Many may not realize that this school was established to meet the need for a ministry training center in our nation's central region. We're proud that the founder of this school, a Church of God pastor in Houston, Texas, answered that call! Now in the midst of the school's sixtieth anniversary, we look back and celebrate the faithfulness of God. It remains our sacred calling to prepare the next generation of Church of God pastoral and ministry leadership, and to apply that same vigilance to equipping Christian leaders for every area of society."

Shopping the Aisles of an Indiana Church
When the congregation of Pendleton Community Church of God arrived for worship, they had no idea that church would actually happen in the grocery store across the street.
"We work really hard to keep church simple," Trey Oldham, senior pastor stated. "This particular Sunday we took a glimpse of the early church from Acts 2 where those in the church sell their property and possessions to take care of others in need."
This Indiana church responded to Scripture by taking immediate action. After a short message and challenge from their pastor, the people who had gathered for worship went to buy food and products that those in their community might need.

Boldly Preaching Jesus at Age 100: Linvel Arington
Retired Church of God pastor Linvel Arington turned one hundred years old on November 24, 2013. Instead of the typical birthday celebration, Linvel spent the morning preaching from the pulpit of Oaklawn Church of God in Hot Springs, Arkansas. What started out as a tongue-in-check joke about preaching his "next-to-last sermon" on his one hundredth birthday turned into a momentous reality.
Pastor Arington recently stated, "I gave my first sermon when I was only nineteen, although it took me nearly fifty years to figure out just exactly what God intended me to do all along."
