Duluth High School, Proud Host of Band LGPE!

smaller cat

This past Friday and Saturday, Duluth High School had the pleasure of hosting the Annual Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), a statewide event where the groups meticulously prepare three pieces of music, travel to a local school's performance hall, and are adjudicated based on their stage performance.

It is the high point of the year for many programs, and this year the Band event for our area of our district was held here at Duluth High School.

Over the course of three days, 28 different bands consisting of 1,700 middle and high school band students from around Gwinnett County made their way through our halls and theater!

A massive thank you to Peter Lemonds, Shawn Morton, Catherine Lykins, and Brooke Adamson for letting us use their classrooms as key areas for the event, as well as Cheryl Baraban for miraculously clearing off the theater stage in a single day so we could start set up early this week.

It was great to show off our fantastic school to all the groups visiting!

Varsity Tennis

Megan Waldheim  was selected as a candidate

for the Fans Choice Female Athlete of the Week, by Gwinnett Daily Post!

Megan anchors our tennis team playing 1 and 2 singles. She has been clutch for us this season, as she has a "never give up" mentality and is known for fighting for every last point. This is a much deserved honor for Megan and the Duluth High School Wildcat tennis team!

 Soccer

The Boys Varsity Soccer team brought home two wins last week against North Gwinnett and Collins Hill!!! Thinking the game against North Gwinnett would have ended in a tie, our Boys pressed till the very end. With 17 seconds left on the clock, #7 Alexander Garuba scored off a corner kick taken by #8 Jose Linares locking in the win at 4-3!

Collins Hill were agressively on their toes, but with #19 Kevin Soto holding our midfield strong, it allowed #9 Thierry Jules to put in the first goal. With 3 minutes left on the clock, a beautiful chip by #10 Carlos Delarosa, allowed #7 Alexander Garuba to put in a goal bringing the match to a 2-1 win.

The games have been nothing short of excellence, so come support our soccer teams  at home on Tuesday, 3/31. Girls play at 5:30 and the boys start at 7:30 pm, against the Norcross Blue Devils.
