Duluth girls defeat Mountain View to win 
West Forsyth tourney

Deja Mitchell scored 16 points and was named tournament MVP as Duluth defeated Mountain View 64-57 to win the West Forsyth Wolverine Winter Classic on Dec. 30.

Lyricka Holloway led the Wildcats (9-5) with 26 points, while teammate Lea Petit added 10 for Duluth.


Diaz comes off the bench to help Duluth

Javis Diaz, the 6-foot-3 junior scored 15 of his game-high 18 points in the final 10 1/2 minutes, including hitting 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch to help the Wildcats hold off the scrappy visitors from Alabama for a 79-70 win on Dec. 27 at Brookwood's Gold Gymnasium.

Highlights: Scored a game-high 15 points in a 42-27 win over Forsyth Central.

Coach Charlie Parker's take: "Endia is tremendously talented and is a natural playmaker. Her athleticism along with her ability to anticipate makes her pretty special. I'm also proud of the work she is doing in the classroom. She has a bright future. No doubt about it."
