Attention Seniors!

 

Balfour will keep the on-line purchases for Grad Supplies open past the February 21st  deadline.  However, there is an increase in price on packages & items for orders placed from February 22 - March 23.  Orders will only be accepted online at  www.gabalfour.com during this time.

 

Senior dues are $100. Dues include: tickets to graduation; cap; gown; tassel; stole; diploma; cover; sunglasses; lanyard. Senior dues have nothing to do with Junior dues.

 

Dues paid by April 1, 2014 - no late fee. Dues may be paid at - www.gabalfour.com

Junior fees are due - deadline for $100 dues extended to

February 14th.

Dues go up to $115 after the 15th and must be paid by the deadline date of April 1st

GCPS officially issued added a day to the school calendar -
May 22nd.
 
All the snow days built into the 2013-14 school calendar have officially become school days for teachers & students - Feb. 17th, March 14th & May 22nd.
  
Official graduation dates are yet to be determined.

DHS Science Olympiad
  

After a 1st place finish at the Rockdale Invitational in the fall, Duluth High School's  Science Olympiad teams finished 4th and 10th at the January 18th  Brookwood Invitational Science Olympiad Tourney where  50 teams competed in the year's largest & most competitive Olympiad. Duluth's A team had 12 top ten places in the 18 events and medaled in 4 events. Duluth's B team medaled in 3 events.

 

DHS Mock Trial

 

Congratulations to the Duluth Mock Trial team who placed 2nd at their regional competition this past weekend.

A special shoutout to Ashima Gauba, Brittney Mills & Abhi Ramachandiran who won Outstanding Attorney awards and

Hayden Brewer & Mary Lorenson for their Outstanding Witness awards. The team competes at the District Competition on February 22.

The visual arts department had 4 young ladies place in the Scholastic Art & Writing competition.

"This is a very competitive art competition and I am very proud of these ladies," says Mrs. Brooke Adamson, DHS Fine Arts Department chair.

 Athletics 

 

  DHS Swim & Dive Finish Strong Season
  

Congratulations to the DHS Swim & Dive team for their performance at the County Championships. They had an outstanding championships with 47 swimmers & divers attending the meet.  Of the 43 swimmers in the prelims, 30 made it back for finals.

The boys finished with 582 points & brought home a trophy for the 3rd straight year by finishing 6th.

The Girls scored 508 points, finishing 7th,

just 8 points out of 6th place.

DHS Area Wrestling Results

 

Rodney Jones placed 2nd at the 170 pound weight class & Alex Brown placed 1st in the 220 pound weight class in the Area 7 wrestling tournament. Both qualified for the sectional tournament next weekend.
