When it's summer in Boston, there is always something to do!

In addition to the fun events and trips sponsored by the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) and the ISSI listed in the events section below, the MBTA has outlined some great Summer day trips using public transportation!
Cape Cod: Take the Cape Flyer from South Station to Buzzard's Bay or Hyannis!  Explore the beaches in Buzzard's Bay or Hyannis or take the ferry to Nantucket for the day!

Provincetown, Cape Cod:  
Visit the fun, funky town at the tip of Cape Cod. Take the ferry from Boston and discover the fun things to do

Newport, RI: Explore the mansions, shops, restaurants and beaches of Newport! Take the Providence/Stoughton commuter rail from Ruggles to Providence and then the #60 RIPTA bus to Newport.

Newburyport & Plum Island:
Take the Newburyport  commuter rail from North Station to this quaint north shore town full of shops, restaurants and beaches! Easy access to Plum Island as well.

MBTA Fall 2014 Student Semester Pass Program - SAVE 11%!

   Discounted MBTA passes for the Fall 2014 semester are now available.  Fall Semester Passes are valid from September 2014 through December 2014 and will save you 11% off the standard monthly pass price. Passes are available for purchase through myNEU - NUPay until  3:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2014.  Limit - 1 semester pass per student.  The MBTA has a NO exchange, NO cancellation, NO refund policy. For more information, visit the T-pass options page in NUPay.  If you have any questions, call the Pass Program at (617) 222-5218.

 

Digital Scholarship Commons - A Collaborative Space for Faculty & Doctoral Students

   The Digital Scholarship Commons is a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment where faculty and doctoral students engaged in research and instruction consult with experts and colleagues to advance their academic projects and share best practices in the use of technology and information resources.  They have scheduled a number of discussions, listed in the Events section to the right.  For additional information, explore the DSC website.

Graduate Student Government News

The first Graduate Student Government meeting for the academic year is scheduled for September 10, 2014 from 12 to 1 PM at 346 CSC.  All graduate students are encouraged to attend and become in involved in your student government.  2013-14 senators will need to reapply to renew their senate seat.  Students interested in becoming a new senator may apply at any time.  Information is available on the Graduate Student Government website.

   

Please note that the application deadline for individual conference funding period II is July 11. Information about conference funding is available on the website.

Graduate Campuses
It's that time of year...graduation! The Charlotte campus will hold its second graduation next week celebrating the personal and educational achievements of our graduates. This year the campus is proud to celebrate 36 graduates among various colleges and programs. One of those inspiring graduates is Johnny Ekofo-Ntulama.  Johnny will complete the Master in Education in Fall 2014. Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, he came to the US nearly 8 years ago looking to make a difference. Nearing the completion of his degree, he shares some personal experiences and perspectives about his educational journey on NetworkedIn. Read the personal interview here.
