| Plans for six raised garden beds, two shaded pavilions, a storage space for tools, and an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible ramp are under way. |
Assistant Professor Alexis Gregory's 4th year architectural design studio students are eager to construct a community garden for the Boys and Girls Club of the Golden Triangle. Along with several other Mississippi State groups, the class will transform the Club's backyard space into a large horticultural area where members can learn to maintain the garden and take home vegetables they grow. In addition, the in-person time of developing the project parameters will allow MSU students to bond with the Boys and Girls Club staff and create an enhanced design by better understanding their needs.
Funding from the mini-grant will help purchase materials for the construction of the community garden, such as concrete, lumber, and fasteners. The project is estimated to be complete by mid-spring, weather permitting. |
