Dear Colleagues,
The fall semester brings with it the excitement of possibilities. Possibilities for our football team, for us as professors and agents, and for our students and clientele. This year, these possibilities extend to each of you in a unique way, through the Center for the Advancement of Service-Learning Excellence (CASLE).
CASLE is a joint partnership between the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President and Extension Services. As such, we promote the MSU land-grant mission of research, learning, and service by extending our reach beyond the campus and into our 82 counties across the state. My role is to function as a broker, assisting faculty or extension agents in finding the right partner for a service-learning project. But that's only the tip of the iceberg.
Not only does our office assist in project development, but we also coordinate anything from designing a service-learning course for the newly created "S" designation to finding peer-reviewed publication opportunities or grants for research. We can also help as you develop your research questions, work with the Institutional Review Board, and write your scholarly articles.
I am happy to sit down and discuss any questions you may have or we can "do lunch" at your convenience. You can also follow CASLE on Twitter or Facebook and access more information on our website at www.servicelearning.msstate.edu. We look forward to working with you!
Learn, Serve, Become,
April Heiselt, Ph.D.
