2015 Annual and Measure J & L Pavement Rehabilitation Project

Last week Bay Cities Paving & Grading completed paving activities along El Camino Moraga, Donna Maria Way, Lost Valley Drive, Woodland Road and Ardor Lane. The contractor also milled and placed bottom lift of hot mix asphalt along Crest View Drive and Donald Drive. They will place final hot mix asphalt on these streets when weather permits. Utility cover adjustments and striping activities, among others, will follow.

Due to weather forecast, the contractor will not perform any paving activities for the remaining of 2015.  Activities will resume in January 2016.

Play Ball!

Registrations are now being accepted for 2016 Orinda Youth Association (OYA) Baseball and Softball. New this year are updated divisions to provide a better experience for our young ball players. The Single A division replaces our former t-ball league. The Single A division functions the same way, players hit the ball off of a tee and can only advance one base per at bat. The Double A division features coach pitch and requires players to have played at least one year of T-ball. The Triple A division is for our most advanced players, requiring one year of incrediball experience and featuring coach's pitch. The purpose of reformatting our divisions was to separate the beginning players from our more experienced players and provide them an environment where they can learn the game and grow their skills at the appropriate pace.

In addition, the Softball League for girl's grades 3-5 will return this year. This league features player pitch and is a fun way for girls to learn the game and continue to develop their skills.  Don't let your child be left sitting in the stands, click here to register them today! More information about OYA spring sports can also be found on the City of Orinda's website; click here.

Planning Commission:
  • 25A Orinda Way Study Session (recap): On December 8th, 2015, the Planning Commission held a Study Session to provide comments and direction to the prospective developers of the 25 Orinda Way property, which is the vacant, approximately one half acre fenced parcel located directly across the street from the City Library.  The developer, Paul Ugenti, is proposing  to develop an 18,500 square foot, commercial building, consisting of retail and restaurant uses in five separate tenant spaces on the ground floor, with office uses on the second floor.  Over seventy off street parking spaces are proposed, which will be located within the structure, as well as on the roof behind screening. Comments received at the meeting from the Planning Commission and from members of the public in attendance were positive, consisting primarily of suggestions to improve the project.  No formal action was taken by the Planning Commission in keeping with the Study Session format of the meeting.  It is anticipated that the developer will submit a formal development application to seek approval of the project sometime in January 2016.
