DROP-OFF BOXES AIMED AT MAKING IT EASIER TO VOTE IN ORINDA!
Orinda residents will find it a little easier to vote this upcoming election, as the County Elections Office has teamed up with the Orinda City Clerk to offer a convenient "CoCo Vote-N-Go" drop off location prior to and on Election Day at City Hall in Orinda, at 22 Orinda Way.
The distinguishable red box will be available during normal city business hours Monday - Friday 8am -5pm (Closed between Noon - 1pm). City staff members will also have the popular "I Voted" stickers upon request for those who drop off their ballots.
Brentwood, Antioch, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Orinda, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Richmond, San Pablo, Hercules, and Pinole are among the cities who are participating in this effort in Contra Costa County.
The secure, steel drop-off boxes will be in place at those City Halls starting the week of Oct. 13 - one week after permanent vote-by-mail and absentee voters receive ballots.
County elections officials will regularly pick up collected ballots.
Ballots may also be dropped off 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the County Elections Office in Martinez, located at 555 Escobar St., or at any polling place on Election Day.

Coastal Cleanup Days in Orinda, September 19-20, 2014
Barbara Denny' students at Miramonte High School
As mentioned in last week's issue of Orinda Outlook, Orinda participated in National Coastal Cleanup Day at three sites. On Friday, September 19, John Moran, Del Rey Elementary School teacher, supervised 40 volunteer students in a cleanup of upper Moraga Creek; they picked up 80 pounds of trash. On the same day, Barbara Denny, Miramonte High School science teacher, supervised 51 students on a cleanup of lower Moraga Creek; they picked up 226 pounds of trash. On Saturday, September 20, Friends of Orinda Creek board members Jim Luini, Toris Jaeger, and Adriane Bosworth, along with Wendy Wellbrock from the City of Orinda, supervised 27 volunteers in downtown Orinda, San Pablo Creek from the back of the Chevron Station to the back of the Bank of America; they cleaned up 210 pounds of trash and pulled out 220 pounds of non-native, invasive ivy.
That is over 500 pounds of trash that will not make its way to our coastal waters, thanks to these wonderful volunteers!

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority believes that the future success of Contra Costa County lies in the ability to ensure safe, reliable mobility for all. To prepare ourselves for the challenges of the future, the Authority and its partners, the Regional Transportation Planning Committees (RTPCs), are updating the Countywide Transportation Plan (CTP) and the Action Plans for Routes of Regional Significance on which the CTP relies.
As part of the CTP process, CCTA wants to know what transportation issues you think are important so they can prioritize where to spend valuable time and resources. This is your chance to share your ideas for new transportation projects and programs in Contra Costa.
There are many ways to help shape the 2014 Countywide Transportation Plan:
