"The Nation's 2nd Friendliest City"

Members of the public are invited to attend the Orinda City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:00pm for a Review of the First Draft 5th Cycle Housing Element.

Central to preparing the update of the Housing Element is public input throughout the process.  To that end, the City has held a number of public meetings to date.

The Planning Commission reviewed the First Draft of the 5th Cycle Housing Element on September 9, 2014, and a public hearing on the Draft Housing Element will be held at the City Council meeting on September 30, 2014.

Please send any comments on the Housing Element Update to Christina Ratcliffe, AICP, Senior Planner at: cratcliffe@cityoforinda.org.

Coastal Cleanup Days in Orinda, September 19-20, 2014

Orinda participated in National Coastal Cleanup Day

with a huge, three-site success!

On Friday, September 19, John Moran, Del Rey Elementary School teacher, supervised 40 volunteer students in a cleanup of upper Moraga Creek, and Barbara Denny, Miramonte High School science teacher, supervised 51 students on a cleanup of lower Moraga Creek.

On Saturday, September 20, Friends of Orinda Creek board members Jim Luini, Toris Jaeger, and Adriane Bosworth, along with Wendy Wellbrock from the City of Orinda, supervised 27 volunteers in downtown Orinda at San Pablo Creek where the volunteers, including most of St. Mary's women's volleyball team, spread out along the creek from the back of the Chevron Station to the back of the Bank of America where they picked up litter and pulled out non-native, invasive ivy.

The results of the three cleanup events and additional photos will be included in the next Orinda Outlook issue. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers and for all your great work!
