Tarabrook Drive Storm Drain - Last week, the City opened bids for the construction of a new storm drain under the Tarabrook/Evergreen intersection. The City received two bids which were significantly greater than the Engineer's Estimate. Staff is reviewing the bids and will bring a recommendation to the City Council at the August 6th meeting.

Pulte's Orinda Grove Project: Building Permit applications for 19 new residential units within Phases 2, 3 and 6 of the Orinda Grove Project were submitted to the City last week. Foundations are under construction on 12 homes and installation of underground utilities is ongoing. City staff met with Pulte to discuss their efforts to comply with project conditions regarding pedestrian trail access to BART, a BART shuttle and the status of the affordability restrictions on the eight units to be restricted to moderate income households.
J & J Ranch Subdivision (24 Adobe Lane): The Planning Department received a new Tentative Map application to allow the subdivision of the 20.33-acre parcel into 13 clustered residential lots with scenic easements and open space areas. Per the terms of the developer's agreement with the Friends of Joaquin Moraga Adobe (the "Friends"), the applicant enlarged the Adobe site by shifting Lot 12 (previously proposed down-slope of the adobe) southeasterly and reducing the size of both Lots 12 and 13.
Planning Department Volunteer Intern: Sara Aliotti is our new volunteer intern. She is volunteering with us to gain work experience prior to attending graduate school. Sara graduated from Santa Clara University in June 2013 with a double major in Environmental Science and Biology. She will be assisting the Planning Department with the downtown parking permit program, code enforcement cases, streamlining code enforcement process, minor discretionary projects and other various assignments. Please welcome her if you see her around.

Parks and Recreation
We are just past the half-way points for the Adult Basketball and Adult Softball leagues, and the competition is heating up! There are 37 softball teams (with nearly 600 individual players, five divisions, and approximately 200 games being played in the season), and there are also seven basketball teams (with approximately 75 players and 40 games being played) participating in the summer season.
Staff has received very positive feedback on the new online schedule and league/game tracker system. Players can log on at any time to check their game schedule, location, team standing and game scores.
Come out and watch or play this summer, or join the new Adult Volleyball League starting in fall. Information about all of the adult leagues and the online schedule and game tracker system may be found at www.cityoforinda.org.
City staff participated in this week's Summer of Fun event hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department. We enjoyed a sunny, sweet afternoon with ice cream sundaes and aloha spirit. Eva Phalen was our high-five champion for the day, beating the competition by a landslide!
