Police Activity

Orinda Police arrests include, an arrest for DUI, an arrest

for drunk in public, two arrests for possession of narcotics

for sale; stolen property, weapons, and warrants and an

arrest for delaying and obstructing a police officer.

The Investigation Unit has been working diligently to develop leads for recent burglaries. Through their hard work, they were able to pinpoint a neighborhood in Antioch as a possible home location for suspects, identify the house and gain entry. The suspects were found inside and stolen property including items taken from an Orinda burglary, a stolen gun, methamphetamine for sale, and cash were found at the location. The subjects also had warrants for DUI and possession of narcotics. The stolen gun was taken from a home in Oakley and additional items were taken from locations in the city of San Ramon.

The Investigation Unit also interviewed a subject who is currently housed at the Santa Clara County Jail for possible involvement with burglaries here in Orinda. The investigation is ongoing.

Chief Haggard attended a homeowners meeting at Warford Terrace to introduce himself and answer any questions. The Chief also had lunch with Principal Clark to discuss the upcoming school year at Miramonte High School.

City staff was invited by the Parks and Recreation Department to take the Orinda Historical Walking Tour given by the Orinda Historical Society. Our guide, Kay Norman, shared the history of Orinda all the way back to the prehistoric ages when saber tooth tigers and mammoths used to reside in this area. Did you know the Safeway parking lot used to host the annual Rodeo in Orinda, with horse stables across the street? Or that you can still see remnants of the old railroad at the Community Center Park? Staff got a handful of fun facts and Orinda trivia knowledge.  This city has come a long way since its' founding and has bits of history hidden at every corner.

Public Works and Engineering Services

Our new Associate Engineer,  Wendy Wellbrock attended the Contra Costa Clean Water Program (CCCWP), Management Committee meeting last Wednesday. The Management Committee has been working on a response to the Contra Costa Grand Jury on "Getting to Clean Water". The CCCWP and the City will be submitting responses to the questions posed by the Grand Jury. The
