Police Activity

Orinda Police arrests include, an arrest for DUI, a Warrant arrest, an arrest for restraining order violation and an arrest for possession of stolen property.

The Investigation Unit recovered a stolen laptop from an Orinda burglary in the City of Antioch. Evidence of drug sales in the home led to a search warrant by the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Team in conjunction with Orinda detectives. Detectives filed 7 misdemeanor cases and 2 felony cases. They obtained more information from Modesto Police regarding a burglary on Overhill Drive.

Orinda Police Officer Kevin Mooney retired from service on July 10, 2013. Officer Mooney was a great asset to this community. His knowledge of the city and the people will be greatly missed. Officer Mooney has accepted a position with the Moraga Police Department, so he will still be in the area.

The Manzanita Bridge project is moving along on schedule. We are concerned that some motorists are running the temporary traffic signal that controls traffic crossing the one-way detour on the temporary bridge. We have added more signs to inform drivers that they may have to wait up to 70 seconds and we have requested that the Police Department watch this area more closely. Please obey traffic laws in the area.
