Police Activity

Orinda Police arrests included an arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle and vandalism, and a Warrant arrest for possession of dangerous drugs.

The investigation unit continued follow up investigations on recent residential burglaries. The unit did surveillance on suspects in Oakland that might be responsible for the residential burglaries. They also went to Antioch to do surveillance on suspects by using their stolen computer. They are also doing a probation search on a subject living in Rodeo who might be related to crimes in Orinda.  Orinda detectives are working closely with Lafayette, Fremont, and Oakland Police Departments and the Sheriff's Office on all of the recent burglary cases. Progress has been made and some of the stolen items from Lafayette cases have been recovered.

Scott Tracy represented Orinda Police at the Summerfest held at the Community Park on Sunday June 22nd. Scott handed out fingerprint packets for the kids and also fingerprinted approximately 40 kids.

A citizen on Warford Terrace advised that she was very happy with the way Orinda Police are stepping up patrol in her neighborhood. She saw Officer Patacsil in her neighborhood and he stopped and offered suggestions on how to keep her neighborhood safe.

Manzanita Bridge - In the past few weeks, City staff and our Construction Manager have met with Caltrans to review project compliance with the environmental permits and with Caltrans/FHWA project reporting requirements.  No significant issues were found.  The construction of the new bridge is moving ahead nicely and is on schedule.

Tarabrook Storm Drainage - The project was advertised for bids on Thursday, June 27th and the bid opening is scheduled for July 18th.

Parks & Recreation

The Orinda Adult Basketball league kicked off this week with seven teams tipping off this season. There are six returning teams and one team that is comprised of ten free agents. This season is poised to be another competitive and exciting season!

The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the City's first ever teen camp. "Summer Outeens" takes local teens on various trips to fun destinations all over the bay area. The first week of camp is July 8, where campers will embark on journeys to Sky High Sports, Great America and Waterworld. The second week takes place July 29-August 2 and takes campers rock climbing, to Six Flags and to Boomers for mini golf, go karts and water boats. Each week concludes with water play and a BBQ at Wilder Park. This summer should be one to remember for our teens.
