Charter Day 2016
The 2016 Charter Day Ceremony will take place on Friday, February 5, at William & Mary Hall.

Celebrating 323 years since the birth of William & Mary by Royal Charter, Charter Day festivities involve students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as the local community.

Ellen Stofan '83, NASA's chief scientist, will speak at the 2016 William & Mary Charter Day ceremony, scheduled for Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. "Ellen is among William & Mary's most distinguished alumnae, and we look forward to honoring her at Charter Day," said President Taylor Reveley.

Other highlights of the weekend include the often sold out AEF Lord Botetourt Auction on Friday, a show by comedian Bo Burnham, and the Alumni Medallion Ceremony on Saturday morning.
Ambler receives AFA Gardner Award 
In recognition of Ambler's exceptional commitment to fostering a rich environment for fraternity/sorority life at William & Mary, the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) has honored her with the 2015 Dr. Kent L. Gardner Award. The AFA presented Ambler the Gardner Award during the AFA annual meeting in Fort Worth, Texas on Dec. 5.

We hope this message finds you well now that your student is back on campus and the spring semester is underway.
 
Though winter has finally arrived in Williamsburg, the College is buzzing with activity. Charter Day is just around the corner on Friday, February 5th. Celebrating 323 years since the birth of William & Mary by Royal Charter, Charter Day festivities involve the whole Tribe community. Visit the W&M Charter Day website to learn more about this important tradition and even watch the ceremony live!

Continuing the Conversation: A Discussion of Race, Justice, and Service
This conversation is a partnership between the Office of Community Engagement and Center for Student Diversity. Over MLK Weekend, students worked on issues of race and racism on campus, refugees, health and hunger, and affordable housing through service projects. This conversation brings together those participants and those who heard the MLK Commemoration speaker, Melissa Harris-Perry, to discuss and learn more about Dr. King's legacy of justice and its meaning for our lives today.
2015 President's Report Released
William & Mary President Taylor Reveley sent a message to the campus announcing the release of the 2015 President's Report, which includes a message from Reveley, a financial report, a year-in-review video, feature stories and news highlights. 
Connect with Employers at Two Career Fairs in February!
The Spring Career and Internship Fair takes place on February 12th in the Sadler Center. Students can view a list of participating organizations through the Tribe Careers website. The Government and Nonprofit Expo will be February 19th in Washington, D.C., with a limited number of seats available on the William & Mary bus. Between both events, there will be over 150 employers participating!  
Earn W&M Credit Abroad in Summer 2016!
Is your student interested in studying abroad this summer for W&M credit? Applications for W&M's 15 sponsored summer study abroad programs and for Reves Summer Scholarships are now OPEN, and are due by February 1st. Students interested in learning more can stop by the Global Education Office during walk-in hours (11am-5pm Monday-Friday).
2016-2017 Campus Housing
2016-17 Room Reservation Deposits are due February 19th.

Celebrating the Mid-Year Student Organization & Activities Fair
Hundreds of students turned out on Tuesday, January 19th for the Mid-Year Student Organization & Activities Fair. Over 130 different student organizations shared how great it is to be involved. Our online directory for recognized student organizations can help students get connected and parents find out about different recognized student organizations at W&M. 
Fall 2016 DC Semester Program Applications Now Open
Applications for the Fall 2016 DC Semester Program are now open! Earn 12 credits for courses and a guaranteed internship in the topic theme.This fall's theme will be Nation-Building and Conflict-Resolution in Asia taught by professor Chitralekha Zutshi of the History Department. 
Hoverboard Ban on Campus 
Due to fire concerns raised by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the potential impact to the safety of our community, William & Mary has decided to institute a temporary restriction on the use or storage of hoverboards on campus. 
 
Effective January 12, 2016, and until further notice, hoverboards, also known as self-balancing scooters and hands-free segways, will not be permitted in any university owned or leased building, including parking structures.
