Tips for a Successful Sophomore Year
There will be many meaningful and exciting experiences as your student enters his or her second year at William & Mary.  Here are a few articles to help your student navigate sophomore year.
A Day of Workshops Offered at the Cohen Career Center
Students can jumpstart their semester by attending one or multiple workshops offered by the career center the day before classes start. Topics include Resumes, Cover Letters, and LinkedIn, Internships, Interviewing, and the Job Search.
Apply to lead an alternative break trip!
Alternative breaks are short-term service-learning trips in which students partner with community members and organizations around the world to work on specific social issues. Applications will be accepted from all students with interest in leading a spring break trip in the US, and are due September 7.
Student Organization & Activities Fair
The Office of Student Leadership Development is proud to announce the Student Organization & Activity Fair. This is an annual part of new student orientation at the College (but open to all students). Taking place the night before classes begin (8/25), it is a fun and exciting evening intended to introduce students to the many ways to get involved on campus. We hope students will utilize the Fair to explore interests and passions for a well-rounded college experience (and beyond)! Involvement at W&M creates an opportunity for students to engage in the practice field of leadership.
Student Accounts: Updates and News

Begin the new academic year by being informed and prepared! Check with your student to be sure you are set up as an Authorized User in eServices. You can receive eStatement notifications, access to view and pay, and enroll in the monthly Tuition Payment Plan.

Restrictive holds will be placed on all W&M Student Accounts that are not paid or covered by financial aid, scholarships or the Tuition Payment Plan on August 4th. Payments can be made in several ways. International payments must be paid through peerTransfer.

Expecting financial aid refund? Direct deposit refunds are sent electronically to the student's bank account.
Opportunities Abroad

Is your student interested in studying abroad for a summer or semester? Come learn about all of the opportunities available to W&M students! The Global Education Office's annual study abroad fair will be held this year during W&M Family Weekend. Have questions? Study Abroad workshops will be held daily starting at the beginning of the Fall semester, and the Global Education Office has walk-in hours 11am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

Welcome Home from Residence Life!

Can you believe it's almost time for move-in? Learn all about your student's room, building, community, and read the welcome letter from the building staff. Check out the Guide for Parents and Families for a friendly reminder on the move-in process.

Is your student looking to get involved on campus? Participation in Hall Council is an unmatchable leadership experience offered to all students in housing. Hall Governance and Self Determination define the W&M residential experience. Ask for information at check-in.
