Incoming Family Newsletter
Dear William & Mary Incoming Parents,

Can you believe we are less than a month away from Family Orientation? It feels like summer just flew by! We cannot wait to have you and your student join us on August 21st and welcome you as member of the Tribe.

This newsletter is dedicated to all things Orientation - what to expect, tips for a successful move in day, rain plan information, and so much more. We were in your shoes only a short time ago as we moved our daughter into her residence (and will be joining you again this year for our son's first day at W&M!). The weekend is a whirlwind of activity so be sure to take in as much as you can and make the most of your time here in Williamsburg.

We look forward to meeting you during Move-In and to continue serving you as your Parent & Family Council Co-Chairs this academic year.

Sincerely,

Julie Dobson '78 and Chet Thaker P'17, P'19

Move-In and Parking
Can you believe it is almost time for move-in? We can't wait to meet you!

Residence life has great resources for you and your student regarding the move-in process as well as a guide for families which answers many frequently asked questions.

Wondering where to park? Parking Services will NOT be issuing any tickets on Friday, August 21 unless your car is parked in a loading zone, sidewalk, walkway, or grassy area.  The Move in Map will available by August 7.

Review the Orientation Schedule
Before you arrive on the big day, be sure to review the updated Family Orientation Schedule to get a sense of what to expect on Friday and Saturday.
Both days are packed with informative sessions and opportunities to become acquainted with the campus and community. Are there particular sessions you are interested in attending on Saturday? The schedule will inform you which sessions are repeated so you can plan your morning accordingly.

Your student's schedule is also available online and provides detailed information on what to expect leading up to the first day of class on Wednesday, August 26th.
August eBills and Student Accounts
August eBills will be sent to your student's WMApps email account on August 6 and are due September 1. To access the eBill, log in Banner.

Check with your student to be sure you are set up as an Authorized User in eServices. You can receive eStatement notifications, access to view and pay, and enroll in the monthly Tuition Payment Plan.

Rain Plan
The weather in Williamsburg can be a bit unpredictable but don't worry, we have you covered!

Several events on Friday have rain plans in place. The schedule you receive on Friday designates events with rain plan contingencies and includes information on where the event will be relocated. Our office will update everyone by text and email if the rain plan will be used. Be sure to check your phone and email during Orientation.

Events with Rain Plans
Auxiliaries Services Fair
Student & Family Picnic
Fifes and Drums Processional
Class Registration and the W&M Bookstore
All freshman students will register for classes on Saturday, August 22. Orientation Aides will also walk students to the Bookstore during orientation to buy their books. Students will just need a copy of their schedule and the staff at the bookstore will do the rest.
Calling All Parents! We rely on your partnership to help our students flourish, and we hope you'll find meaningful ways to engage with the William & Mary community.
