Haukohl Collection Coming to W&M
The Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary is continuing its groundbreaking series of shows with a new exhibitionTwilight of a Golden Age, which opened on April 25th. Following the exhibitions on Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, which both broke attendance records, Twilight features significant paintings and sculptures from 17th and 18th century Florence.
W&M Joins 5 Universities to Advance Coastal and Marine Science
William & Mary President Taylor Reveley is one of six Virginia university presidents to have joined forces to advance marine and coastal science that solves pressing issues by signing the Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) charter on April 27th.
 
Founded in 1984, VASG is a multi-university organization whose mission is to enhance the ecological, economic and social sustainability of coastal and ocean communities in Virginia and the ecosystem services they depend upon.
Judge Conyers to be honored with Prentis Award
A risk that Judge Cressondra "Sandy" Conyers, J.D. '92 took more than 25 years ago will be rewarded May 20 when she is honored with the Prentis Award recognizing her strong civic engagement and support of William & Mary.
Men's, women's tennis teams take CAA titles
Both of William & Mary's tennis teams took titles home from the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournaments held on the Williamsburg campus.

Both teams will advance to the NCAA championships.

Freshman Parent Newsletter
Dear Class of 2018 Parents,

It may be hard to believe, but the school year is already coming to close. As students begin to buckle down for their final exams and start looking forward to their activities this summer, William & Mary has begun to prepare itself to transition into the summer.


 

We thank you, the parents, for the part you played in giving William & Mary another successful school year, and we eagerly anticipate having you back with us in the fall.  In this newsletter there is information from Residence Life about moving out and summer school, updates from Student Leadership Development, Community Engagement, and Study Abroad! Read below to find out more about what's happening on campus this month.

Tribe TutorZone Certification

The Tribe TutorZone is happy to announce that we have received our Stage I Certification as an International Tutor Training Program from the College Reading & Learning Association. This allows us to recognize the wonderful service that our peer tutors provide to their fellow students by awarding them official certification as fully trained tutors. 

Summer Experience Information
The Cohen Career Center would like to know what students are doing over the summer and in what location. Gathering this information helps create awareness to other students about opportunities, facilitates employer development with the career center, and helps tell the story of how William & Mary students are developing skills through a variety of summer experiences. Please encourage your son or daughter to fill out this form, which will be sent via email.
May Break
May Break 2015 is an alternative break to DC focusing on issues related to food justice. As part of this trip, students will work with community organizations on issues of hunger, sustainability and poverty, and develop a core group of active citizens.

Planning for Study Abroad
In the most recent report released by the Institute of International Education, W&M had the highest percentage of undergraduates studying abroad among public universities in the U.S. Some students have even gone abroad more than once! If your student is considering studying abroad during his or her time at W&M, summer is a great time to start planning. Have questions? Throughout the summer, the Global Education Office will have walk-in hours 11am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
Student Leadership Development Supports End of Semester Celebration
Student Leadership Development, AMP, and W&M Dining sponsored the annual Last Day of Classes Carnival and Picnic on May 1st on the Sunken Garden. Activities included a moon bounce, rock wall, mechanical bull, jousting, bungee run, obstacle course, make-your-own subway signs, live music by cover band Snackbar Jones, and free food such as pizza, popcorn, and ice cream. 

Calling All Rising Sophomores for Community Engagement Program

Calling all rising sophomores! Whether you are already involved in community engagement or are looking for a way to integrate more community into your life, Aim 4 creates opportunities to find your next steps in active citizenship. Aim 4 is an academic and experiential program which provides you community engagement experience, a cohort of service-minded students, and personal advising. Registration ends June 1st.

On April 21st the College celebrated One Tribe One Day, the second annual giving day for the university. A record-breaking 6,078 donors raised a total of $1.3M for the College! This total includes 1,161 parents who collectively raised over $80,000 to support the Parents Fund and many programs and department across the university! This is an unprecedented demonstration of support, and the College is grateful to all the parents and families who participated in One Tribe One Day! Thank You!
