Senior Parent Newsletter
Dear Parents

Here at William & Mary, we've slowly started creeping our way out of winter weather and into some spring sunshine. There are only a few weeks left in this semester, but there's a lot going on to keep our students busy.

Of greatest concern for you and your student this month will doubtless be Commencement. Be sure to keep communicating with your student about the many emails they've been receiving from the administration with regards to this exciting time in their life. This issue contains helpful information on graduation, the ever-important job search, move-out, and more! Please browse below to catch up on what's been happening around campus.

Kind regards,

The Job Search Process
Has your student visited the Cohen Career Center? While some students may have a job offer in hand before graduation day, many will not, and that is not unusual. Looking for a job can be stressful and overwhelming, but we are here to help! The job search is a process and it can start with one step - scheduling an appointment with a career advisor.
Community Engagement
Active Citizens Celebration
On Wednesday, April 8th at 7pm the Office of Community Engagement is hosting the Active Citizens Celebration in Tidewater B of the Sadler Center. This annual event is a celebration of the ways students and community partners have worked together on positive social change this year. There will be festivities, awards, dessert, and representatives of the many paths of active citizenship. All are welcome
Residence Life
The 3rd Annual Mr. W&M Pageant was an amazing success. The event, sponsored and hosted by the Residence Hall Association, raised $800.00 for St. Jude.  Congrats to our winner...Mr. Botetourt!

It's April, which means the Room Selection Process for the 2015-2016 academic year is underway. And with May just around the corner, it's not too early to begin thinking about moving out!
Senior Q&A: Study Abroad and the Job Search
Study abroad is not only great for the intellect and the soul, but also for the job search! One of the Global Education Office's Peer Advisors is Thomas Obermeier '15, a senior from Frankfurt, Germany, majoring in Accounting with a business minor. We asked Thomas if his experiences studying abroad have had any impact on his plans for life after William & Mary.
Tambor to Speak on Campus
Generous support from the Janet and Peter Atwater Lecture Endowment allowed Alma Mater Productions (AMP) to present a speaking event featuring Jeffrey Tambor on Tuesday, March 31st. Tambor is best known for his roles as George Bluth Sr. and Oscar Bluth on Arrested Development. His most recent success includes his portrayal of Maura Pfefferman on Transparent, for which he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy in 2015.  A sold out crowd is anticipated for this major event taking place at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall.
Ewell Award honors 40 Graduating Students
On Tuesday, April 21st, the W&M Community will gather for "An Evening of Excellence" - an annual event recognizing student achievement over the course of the past year. Many annual awards are celebrated at the event, but a highlight is the presentation of the Ewell Award which recognizes 40 graduating students who best exemplify a liberal arts education through their activities and academic studies. This award was named in honor of Benjamin Stoddert Ewell, the former president of the College of William & Mary, who by ringing the Wren Building bell kept the College alive when its doors closed during the Civil War.

One Tribe One Day - April 21, 2015

One Tribe One Day is our 24-hour giving challenge that celebrates the impact of private support and encourages philanthropy among all members of the Tribe. Our goal is to have 2,100 donors within the 24-hour period. Gifts of any size to any area of the College will count for One Tribe One Day. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks!

To date, 14% of senior parents have made a gift this year as compared to 47% of senior students. As a parent, your support sets the stage for your student's participation. Please support the Tribe today, and encourage your student to do the same!
