Tell Me A Good Story

Hawkeye Richardson Announces the 'Tell Me A Good Story' Nonprofit Organization

 Greetings!  :

Hello. Hawkeye Richardson here. You might know me from my activities as a marketing consultant here in Tucson, Arizona, or perhaps as a friend or acquaintance from a previous time.

But, today, I would like to talk with you for a moment as the Executive Director of a new nonprofit organization called --- Tell Me A Good Story.

"Once upon a time..."

Around the Campfire

Did you know that just by hearing or reading those words, your subconscious mind automatically perked-up and tuned-in. Why? Because your subconscious has learned that after hearing those words, you are likely to get to hear a story. And our minds love stories. Whether we are six years old --- or 96 years young --- the kid in all of us loves to hear a good story.

Did you know that research shows that the human mind is 'hard-wired' to process and store information in story form?

Did you know that two people's brainwaves can synchronize when one person tells a story to the other person face-to-face?

Did you know that holding an object in your hands while learning its'story' will cause you to learn the information better, remember it longer, and be able to share it with others in a more satisfying way?

Did you ever think about the fact that the words "Story", "Store" and "History" are closely related? Our minds prefer to 'store' information in 'story' form to help us better remember the 'history' of what we learn.

Please understand, we are not just talking about the kind of stories that are told around the campfire. Because our brains prefer to store information in story form, your brain will try to take any type of information it receives and link it with previously stored information. The information might be historical, cultural, social, scientific, business, religious, or even entertaining.

In addition, research indicates that when we receive information through face-to-face interactions, we are more likely to learn the information better, to remember it longer, and to be able to pass it on more effectively to others.

So, this is the beginning of the story of the Tell Me A Good Story nonprofit organization. The purpose of the organization is to teach people about the many mental, physical, social and educational benefits that come from sharing 'stories' face-to-face with others. The concepts can be applied in both your personal and business lives.

Some of the ways we will be sharing these ideas will include classes on a concept called "Hands-On Show & Tell', and the distribution of free 'Hands-On Show & Tell' workbooks.

In addition, because printed books are such wonderful 'hands-on' objects with which to share stories face-to-face, we will also be collecting, processing and distributing free books to military personnel, veterans, seniors and children. We hope that these books will encourage storytelling across generations, and create the opportunity for quality, face-to-face interactions between families, friends, and people of all kinds and ages.

For most people, 'storytelling' is not something we consciously think about during an average day. But, whether we realize it or not, our minds prefer to process and store information as stories.

If you are interested in how 'storytelling' can help you learn better, remember better, and connect with others in more satisfying ways, stay tuned for future newsletters. And, visit our website at www.TellMeAGoodStory.org.

We promise to do our best to convey information and stories that will help you learn and remember better, and to encourage you to experience the benefits of sharing stories face-to-face with others.
