Promising Canine Cancer Vaccine Tests Begin in Tri-state; Dr. Gerald Post Calls for Volunteer Dogs to Take Part in Study
Owners of dogs with lymphoma should check with their family veterinarian to determine if their dog's disease meets the requirements for the clinical trial of the vaccine. Florida-based Veterinary Oncology Services, in conjunction with leading biotechnology firm, Morphogenesis Inc., developed the cancer vaccine.


Clinical Trial


The VCC currently have two clinical trials available. One is a funded trial for dogs with lymphoma and the other is for cancers types that have solid tumors.



Ethoxyquin: Dog Food Preservative May Prevent Chemotherapy Side Effect
Working with cells in vitro and in mice, researchers have discovered that an antioxidant called ethoxyquin, a chemical commonly used as a dog food preservative, may prevent the kind of painful nerve damage found in the hands and feet of four out of five cancer patients taking the chemotherapy drug Taxol.


Dr. Farrelly publishes a paper giving more insight into the treatment of brain tumors
