AAA Wastewater is a small family-owned and operated business providing a variety of sanitation pumping services for industrial, commercial and residential customers. They serve a broad residential and commercial customer base through their GREEN wastewater collection and recycling services while creating a shared success for the community, environment and employees.

Recently, the University of Cincinnati and The Goering Center for Family and Private Business recognized AAA Wastewater Services, Inc. as a finalist for their 14th Annual Tri-State Family and Private Business Awards!

Also, don't forget: On Saturday, September 28th, The Whole Foods Market will host the first of its kind (for Northern Cincinnati) Food & Wine FestivalThe Mason Food Pantry in partnership with the Green Umbrella and Mason-Deerfield Art Alliance have been selected as this year's beneficiaries! The proceeds of the event will help fight hunger throughout the region and to bring awareness of ways to keep our planet healthy by sustainable practices and to promote the local arts. Also, don't miss Third Sun Solar's solar panel trailer and where you can charge your phone with clean energy!

Waste Reduction Action Team is Hosting Green Drinks at MadTree Brewery
The second Green Drinks with Green Umbrella is just around the corner and the Waste Reduction Action Team is hosting it! Come out and join the Green Umbrella community at MadTree Brewery on October 3rd from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  Once again, all are invited!

Ethel Taylor Students Get FREE Bikes
Recently, Ethel M. Taylor students who passed the 2013 Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAA) in grades 3-5 were given a FREE brand new bike and helmet. Ethel Taylor gave away close to $10,000 in prizes to reward students! The money came from the Soaring Hawks Foundation, an organization set up for the school and a matching grant for Union Savings Bank. Additionally, Queen City Bike, the Cincinnati Police, Children's Hospital, Union Savings Bank, Groundwork Cincinnati and CPS Safe Routes to School all attended the "Bike Rodeo" to teach students' bike safety and safe places to ride their new bikes in the neighborhood.



Great Ohio River Swim-September 29th
Join Green Umbrella for the 6th Annual Great Ohio River Swim next Sunday, September 29th. Swim across the Ohio and back! The swim proceeds will benefit the Green Umbrella Outdoor Recreation Action Team's website, MeetMeOutdoors.com
Dr. Amory Lovins Is Coming to Xavier!
On October 16th, Dr. Lovins, the cofounder and chief scientist of Rocky Mountain Institute, is coming to Xavier University to talk on "Reinventing Fire: The Business Led Transition Beyond Fossil Fuel". Don't miss out on this great opportunity!

Check out some of the Top 100 Ways the region around Cincinnati is greener than you think:
  1. In 2010, Cincinnati city limits had 32% of LEED Certified Projects for the state of Ohio, more than any other city in Ohio.
  2. In 2012, ZipCar became Cincinnati's first car sharing program and is expected to reduce car travel by more than 100,000 miles per year.
  3. METRO ridership increased by 4.6% in 2012, nearly twice the national average.

Civic Garden Center- September is an important month for the garden since harvest and planting happen simultaneously. Do you have a few hours to spare? Come experience the Civic Garden Center's Community Gardens and help weed, plant, and mulch (Sept. 19th & Oct. 10th, 19th). To volunteer, please contact Peter Huttinger at huttinger@civicgardencenter.org.
 
Volunteer Opportunity with KCB- Keep Cincinnati Beautiful needs volunteers on Saturday, September 21st from 9:00am-12:00pm to clear out the Mill Creek Greenway trail! The first 15 volunteers to sign up will receive 2 tickets to the Cincinnati Zoo! Details here.
