WE WILL NOT BE SILENT
TEN YEARS LATER 2006-2016

Throughout U.S. history, a bridge, built upon a foundation of racism and misogyny, spans across systems of inequality and violence connecting U.S. domestic and foreign policy to the endless use of lethal force. With a disregard for humanity, people throughout the United States and across the globe are made to submit or are killed for the benefit of the few over the many.

Join us March 18th and 19th to mark ten years of WE WILL NOT BE SILENT as we carry messages into the public square to distinguish this indefensible system of plunder from our unshaken allegiance to love, to justice, and to human rights.

Join us in reflection as we view the Laura Poitras exhibition.

On Friday, March 18th we will meet at the Whitney Museum of American Art DRESSED NOT TO KILL, embodying WE WILL NOT BE SILENT messages created over ten years to express no allegiance to pervasive racism and inequality, to endless war, to the crime of torture and brutality and to a government that lies.

"Laura Poitras: Astro Noise is the first solo museum exhibition by artist, filmmaker, and journalist Laura Poitras. This immersive installation of new work builds on topics important to Poitras, including mass surveillance, the war on terror, the U.S. drone program, Guantánamo Bay Prison, occupation, and torture. Some of these issues have been investigated in her films, including Citizenfour, which won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Documentary, and in her reporting, which was awarded a 2014 Pulitzer Prize."

Without you we will not be heard. Silence is not an option.
WE WILL NOT BE SILENT is an artist/activist collaborative language project that has been in existence since 2006. Through the creative use of language embodied on shirts and emboldened on signs held up in public spaces, we respond to current social issues, encouraging creative, direct public-actions where many people can participate.
